Alternatives to Crying it Out

The traditional "Cry-it-out" approach to getting your little one to sleep may be effective, but for many parents, it's just not something they're comfortable with.

On the other hand, constantly rocking, shushing, or nursing your baby to sleep every time they wake up can create associations that make it harder for baby to fall asleep independently and can result in frequent nighttime wake-ups.

Luckily, there are several options in between these two far ends of the sleep training spectrum. I'll tell you all about them and help you evaluate which one is right for your family in today's video.

Thank you so much for the advice. You are right, each child is different and they learn different too, what works for one might not work for the other

So, I have this issue right now but with my 2-year-old. My husband and I have been "putting her down" since 10 months old. By this I mean laying in a rocking chair with her till she falls asleep, laying in a bed with her till she falls asleep them moving her. SHes in a toddler bed where she can get in and out but if I stay in the room, she delays and plays around and touches things and talks to me but if I put her down and leave, she gets outta bed and comes outta the room. How do I get it so I can put her to bed and she will not only stay there but fall asleep on her own?
