Total BS. The hotspot has hit the thicker continental crust and it is not expected to continue its 600k yr cycle. If it does erupt it is more likely to be be small localized eruptions, not a major blow up

It's also possible that it could erupt and just spew out lava without there being any significant explosion! Who's to say ? It could just act like the Kilauea or Fagradalsfjall volcano's! It will depend on how much pressure there is and the amount of time it takes to release it! It could be a long continuous eruption lasting for many years or even decades!
