Reminds me of the Andy Warhol quote: “Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.”

Writing consistently is great advice. However, I've found that physically typing words every day doesn't help me improve as a writer. While adding words to a manuscript is obviously important, it's the structure underneath the surface of the words that help us connect to a fiction story; the words are just the means of our brains translating it into our imagination. We've gotta be careful that we are in control of our process, and we aren't diving in without some sort of plan, otherwise we will eat up countless hours working on the structural issues in our stories.

i write everyday(well mostly), whether i love the scene i written, whether i want to burn it afterwards. I'm still going to write again.. i truly believe when u write all the time it just becomes some weird habit.

Wrote 16k words in like 5-6 days. I get some people have problems with staying consistent, but what I do is I write until my ideas die down. I wrote two chapters just doing that, mind you the chapters were like 4k-3k words but at least it was something to expand upon later. That's another thing to keep in mind -- write until you feel the chapter is done. You can always add more chapters, but writing just to make a chapter long takes away from the story of it. If the chapter feels done, let it be done.

I recently have come to the conclusion that being a writer is BELIEVING that you are a writer, not thinking you are one. You MUST believe you master the art of publishable grammar and forget everything else. Don't think you are a writer, KNOW you are a writer. This is how the greats, like Stephen King, became successful. They never thought; 'Is this line good enough?!!' They just wrote. Not sure how I myself are gonna implement this but if I ever continue writing I must become fearless. Stop thinking I can write, just know I can and do it. It's the only way forward.

Absolutely loved this. I love the muscle analogy for creativity, it was such a game changer for me. For me consistency looks like writing every weekend, usually a few thousand words- that weekly consistency works better for me personally than daily just bc I struggle to write on work days. I feel like what type of consistency works for everyone is so personal, but what matters is showing up to the page regularly :) helps keep you immersed in the project too! Thanks for the vid 🫶🏼

I definitely believe in consistency. Even if not writing, there are a lot of things to be done towards developing the narrative. Even just 10 minutes a day towards the dream adds up. Great vid Miss Sara!

Writing every day is not an option for most people. The problem I have with the quite by Brandon Sanderson to write 2K a day is unrealistic. He is a successful author with 60+ people working for him with a wife. I'm not sure if she's a stay-at-home mom, but no matter what, I know they are paying for someone to take care of his kids while he's writing.

Consistency doesn't equal daily writing and I love that you cover both of those sides. Either writing daily or writing a few times a week. It great to see both sides and to hear it from someone with a platform. Love you, Sara! Keep up the good work!

I am going to see how long it takes me to write one thousands words. I will then use that to set up my time commitment for each day next week.
Great video! I needed a little kick in the butt and this was it.

2nd time watching this. I feel like it’s something I need to come revisit regularly 😂 I can’t write daily, but I need to work out my writing muscles regularly. 🎉

When I was in a funk, I journaled everyday even if I couldn’t find something more to write in my manuscript. I think it really helped

i set myself the goal of writing 100 words a day just 100, so low that i have no excuse not to write. what happens most the time is because i set such a low barrier is i write at least 2 or 3 times that much, but because its such a low goal I almost cant not do it. and i have written something like 9500 words so far this year on my new book whilst i wait for feed back on my last one.

Hi Sarah!
This video on the power of writing consistently is just the motivation I needed!

I completely agree that consistency is key and it seems like a basic concept but definitely hard to put through! I am going to write 500 words daily for the next week! I'm excited to see how it pushes my creativity and helps me stay focused on my writing project. Keep up the amazing work! Happy writing! ✍📚💖

I am currently working on a dark fantasy novel, abd i always aim to write around 500 words a day, or every two days as my daily quota. I have completed 1/6 of my book so far (its a 60, 000 word novel).

You are one of my favorite youtuber. It's the panser tips, honest feelings you share, the little things like growing an avocado tree and the love for writing. I would love to be your friend if I lived in salt lake city. 🤗
Definitely I am so grateful I have you on YouTube and I found an amazing writing group in Manchester 😍.
