Excel - How to Convert Text to a Date

preview_player
Показать описание
In Excel, dates must be stored in a format that Excel understands otherwise Excel treats them as text (i.e. non-date) values. This video shows how to convert these "non-dates" to real dates which will then allow you to sort, filter and calculate.

This is a free lesson from my video-based training course "Excel - More Than a Numbers Game" in which you'll learn some simple-but-effective ways to save time when working with lists and text in general.

OMG! Are you kidding me!?!?! I've been teaching Excel for 30 years and it never occurred to me to do this. I have this problem every so often in my classes and would have loved to show this to my students. Absolutely amazing! Thanks!

Great nice and clear thanks, just one question?
Does this only work with existing text?
It doesn't carry on working if you enter a different date later on - does that have to be some sort of formula?
Thanks again,
