Many people with small hiatal hernia have no symptoms at all and may never know they have the condition unless it is discovered. When symptoms do occur, the most common symptoms are those arising from gastro-esophageal reflux, which includes heartburn and regurgitation of sour or bitter-tasting acid fluid into the mouth. If you have hiatal hernia, what causes it to flare up? Dr. Vikki shares the causes which you might find alarming!

I needed this right now. I’m in so much pain😩
My upper stomach is bloated and sore, with aches in the middle of my chest lower sternum. When I eat the food hurts my esophagus going down. All this is triggering my anxiety & panic😭

I bought a Kardia mobile device and had numerous possible a fib readings. I wore a monitor for 14 days and was told nope not afib. My doctor wanted to start me on Prozac. I said no! This is an amazing video and not something I would have thought could a contributor. I was believing I really did have heart issue and need to go back to my doctor or find a new one. When I was under 10 years old during an exam ou family doc told my mom I had a hiatal hernia. It never came up again but I am wondering now if this is what my symptoms are about. Thank you!! So much I have somewhere to look other than a fatal heart flaw.

My dr told me all the stress I’ve been u def caused the flight or fight response cortisol, in overload for years resulting in this. It’s changed my life for worse or better. Eating better- addressing the stress though finally #1

I do so much better with 4-6 small meals. I never eat until I’m full. I stop and give it 5-10 minutes and then feel full again.
My wife and I share meals when we go out and it saves us money!

It’s hard for me to sit up straight …I have so much pain and tightness in my chest with the shortness of breath so when I sit or walk straight up it makes that tightness feel worse instead of better so I’m always hunched over forward 🥺

After hiatal hernia surgery I have pain not eating and also pain after I eat. (3-7 pain scale). I can eat the same food and react sometimes and not react others. It's been 4.5 months. Surgeon says this is normal. What's your experience?

I almost fell for these people . I got the phone Consultation and I was excited about someone saying they can help me .then I got the call where they tell you that your insurance is worthless and wanting 6000 dollars to treat me. apparently they think everyone is rich what a shame this company works that way . Don't waste your time unless you are rich ..

Maybe in Italy you where in Bergamo(my city) Città Alta, I'm joking 🙂
I had a hiatal hernia of 3 cm, I have never tolerated antacids, my reflux deteriorates severely, so they operated on Toupet but they had to reoperate urgently for stenosis in Dor, because I have a total absence of esophageal peristalsis (not acalasia, not sclerodermia) of unknown origin, I think it is the fault of gluten because it creates a very strong reflux and many extra intestinal symptoms, but I cannot remove it definitively because I go into severe opioid abstinence, shivering, cold sweat, anxiety goose skin, pains everywhere and muscle cramps .. If you still have only a little advice for to be able to take it off without suffering too much I would be very grateful congratulations for your informative videos 😉

I was getting issues from wearing too tight of pants…it would go away when I undid them… now it is very sensitive and goes off if I wear anything alittle snug and if I lie down after eating… heart palpitations and panic attacks are difficult… nuts are causing me problems

I seem to struggle with mine during spring/ summer - maybe due to pollen allergies adding to it?
Ive never had breathing issues like this until the hernia and they have ruled out asthma so i can only think it is triggered seasonally for me but have not see anyone say this. Could this be a possible link?
