Luna Cycle Announces the Apex Ebike

Ordering this bike in the morning. Spent some time with sales going back and forth about options etc. I scoured youtube in search of videos that would helped me understand this company, where they are and how they started. I was pleasantly surprised to find some good ones. I love their engineering minded attitude, passion and mostly attention to detail. The owner is quirky but full of passion that drives him to innovate. I see genius and a sense that he really cares about his products. I can tell in some of the other videos I have seen that he is sensitive to what other people think and I saw how important it was to him. I wanted to write this and say your doing it right sir and you have my support and business. Please continue to innovate and I wish you all the success in the world. For the record. I don’t live in the area and I don’t know anyone from Luna.

Rohloff, Lauf, Carbon frame. If you offer this in 2.4" tire width and with fenders, rack and lights, it would make an excellent commuter.

I am looking hard at replacing my RadWagon with this. I ride 40 miles a day in and out of street traffic near Seattle. Lots of rain and plenty of steep hills. My interest is to be able to cover ground a little faster on empty trails and to be able to maneuver quicker in traffic. I wonder what the maintenance plan would be for this. Right now I just go in every month or so to check my spokes and drive train. What would you project the maintenance budget to be for the first two years optimally? I am very careful with my ride.

Would buy it immediately if I could afford it! The dream would be to have 3000 watt-hours of battery. That would make it into a real alternative to many car-trips.

Very Impressive!! But, not sure how you went to all that trouble and didn't put a front suspension on it?
Also, You need to do something like that for a real full suspension MTB, that includes the mode in which if you are walking with the bike it still propels itself without you having to push its weight. I think if you did something like the apex for an all out all-mountain ebike, something along the lines of the Giant Trance then you would really be onto something that would interest a great deal of serious MTB'rs!! When you have an integrated motor setup like you have on the Apex it goes a long way towards making the design appear and also actually be much more of a bike then the conversion bikes!!

OK, so I've been saving and planning a build for next year. This is totally along the lines of the bike I have been planning to build. Because money is an issue could I recommend you guys offer a more expensive "already built" bike, and a severely discounted "you build it yourself" bike? Regardless, I'll be buying off you guys (parts, or this beast) when it comes time.

Very nice but it's just too expensive. Cheapest bike on your site is $1599, that's a bit steep considering the kit with battery is only $750.

The real thing needed is a mid-drive bike under $999. Like a Sondors, with mid drive, suspension, 7-speed cassette.
