I bought a BBSHD from you guys and put it on my Salsa Mukluk fat bike and live it. I never put the throttle on it. I use 9 settings of assistance and very rarely ride above level 3 and usually on 1 in the trails. It would be nice to own the Levo but don't have that kind of $$$. Maybe some day but for now my BBSHD is perfect. Thanks guys. 😎👍

Specialized started in San Jose, CA in the 80's and had great all-around frame design. The Stumpjumper was their first mtb - always a great bike and they've kept that top model name going ever since.

Eric- you are SO right about integrated, overseas e-bikes NOT being self-serviceable. Considering that bikes are meant to be beaten up, that's a real problem when something goes wrong. Riding a bike & just hoping nothing will go wrong (with the battery, controller, motor, or display) would be a crazy way to live.

Having said that, however, I just picked up a Bulls emtb (it has the same motor as the Levo, which is Brose) in the U.S. I bought it knowing full well I was doing an an expensive experiment & it may end up being money out the window for a few thrills. Well, I wasn't disappointed-- it had a small problem right out of the box and support was meh (Germany is pretty far away, it turns out, when you need help).

I'd recommend to all others who really want a hardcore emtb (vs. a street pedelec for city riding) to ask themselves first, 'How much money am I willing to throw out the window for a ton of fun ?'. That way, you will never be disappointed with whatever happens. And the "whatever" will happen when it's new, unsupported tech.

Also, if you're unsure of what is a reasonable price range, ask yourself 'what would I spend on my favorite bike?' That regular Yeti or Rocky Mountain ain't cheap either

Specialized is based right in Morgan Hill California, guys. Headed up by a dude who went to San Jose State.
Germany? Switzerland? nope.
I wonder if that might change your philosophy on 'EU peddle-assist' vs 'US throttle'?
Maybe there is room and customers for both ways of thinking.

"It's a big-big minus not having a throttle." Hmm. I did the throttle bike conversion thing and it was like an electric moped. I am sure I don't want a throttle for this kind of bike that I want for fitness. No throttle is what makes it plausible to ride on bike trails. I wouldn't even buy it if it had a throttle as I would be tempted to use it.

Why are they reviewing ebike from another company? Probably $$ endorsement. But I really do like Luna cycles keep up the good work!

If you add a throttle it becomes a electric motox... Mtbers want the bike to feel like a bike.. or they would ride a moto instead of a bike.. lol.
