you guys are so awesome. so honest about your mission. I love the throttle. I used your mid drive kit to build mine. I'm a dirt bike guy.. I hated mountain bikes .. now because of your company I am now loving my mountain bike again. I want the most power, throttle in any peddle assist level. i dont want to spend all day peddling up hills. i like to haul ass up hill and down hill... thanks guys!

I really applaud Luna for what Luna is doing in the industry, but let's take a different approach by mentioning that you can get a Turbo Levo for $4500 with the same motor and design, it just doesn't have as expensive shocks and brakes. Everything changes now. Let's compare:

$4500 Turbo Levo: Integrated battery, motor, most can't tell it's an eBike. Lifetime frame warranty, motor and battery have a 2 year warranty. Has much better resale value. 27.5+ tires. Hidden and integrated wires and battery.

$3500 Luna: Large motor strapped onto the bottom that looks DIY, giant battery, easily distinguishable as an eBike. No warranty, available for an extra $250. This is a Giant brand bike that is NOT designed to be an eBike, with an added motor and battery bolted on. Did Luna upgrade the brakes and other components to handle the increased speed of the bike?
Wires, zip ties, and velcro all visible.

For the extra $750, my choice is the bike that is built from the ground up to be a fully integrated eBike, and it's 10 pounds lighter. Take it to any Specialized dealer and they will fix it for free...

If you want all out speed and don't care about the DIY look, go for the Luna all day. It will be faster...but as Eric said in the video "stuff will vibrate loose" - you'll need to keep up the maintenance on this bike.

I've built 2 bikes using parts from Luna, and really think this is the way to go... awesome power, super fun bikes...

What I love about this video is that you have the balls to point out your own bike's flaws, and point out why it's a better product. Nice work. It's why I'm a Luna customer.

Man, Eric and the team did it again! What a beautiful combination of style and performance. Don't listen to the the negative comments they are just complainers of the world, keep on inventing and once again great work! And ride on!

Hey Eric you just said the magic word( for me ) " Motorcycle experience " . being an avid sportbike and dirtbike( supermoto') rider I've considered something that would allow these 55 yr old legs an opportunity to experience the fun-factor without too much fatigue via this new Ebiking invention . so now you have me very very interested to say the least. I will be interested in speaking with you in person @ your shop if possible to discuss the appropriate bike and advice on what you recommend .( where in LA are you located ? I'm in San Diego ) look forward to speaking with you sir.

What might be even more insightful from a mountain biking perspective, is if you could compare minimal pedaling on the Levo vs. minimal pedaling on a stock BBSHD (non-Ludicrous) build, and see how they each fare going up different grades of hills.

By the way, I had nothing but great experience so far with Luna Customer Service on my 4 Season 3000 fattie with the Ludicrous controller.  Awesome bike, awesome experience. Josh and everyone have been great.  I need full suspension, this might be the one for me.

I have to point out an error at 6:51 when he talks about the rear suspension. The Giant Anthem uses their Maestro rear suspension which is absolutely nothing like Specialized's FSR (Horst link) suspension, and the Specialized Levo does use their FSR (Horst link) suspension. If you look at the seatstay of the Levo, it says FSR. All of Specialized's full suspension bikes use the FSR (Horst link) design. The only other brand that uses anything remotely similar to FSR is Trek.

Nice video...I have a levo class 1 and Bosch class 3 bike I know these bikes are limited by government limits where Luna sells race off road only units... But both my bikes can be hacked and keep up with higher wattage bikes.... And yes my battery is 600 bucks for an extra but one but I'm game to buy one.... The levo is off the hook maybe Luna can make a upgraded battery and interface for us levo owners

The bike on the left /specialized turbo): You are all about design, have a lot of money, and little time/interest for building/tweaking. You want a monster ebike with cool design now and are willing to pay for it. The bike on the right (BBSHD): You have less money, want a better bike (more watts) for the money, you also probably have more technical interest. If you really want to, you can build your own BBSHD bike, or you can spare time and buy Luna Cycles bike which seems like a good deal. (With the ordinary BBSHD you can also program the integrated controller and set your parameters for loads of things, make your own dual front chainwheel and so on). The frame on the right bike goes somewhat horisontal where the motor sits in the bottom bracket, therefore the BBSHD-motor sits lower than it would do with another frame. But as Eric points out it can take a lot of beating, and I would say it also has the advantage that the centre of gravity will be better. The result is that for the right bike you have a bigger pack sitting higher but because the motor sits so low the CG would probably become the same for both bikes. And at the same poweroutput the right bicycle will get better range.
