Estheticians who treat HS clients with such kindness and understanding is really important. Thank you.❤

Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic skin disease. It causes painful, boil-like lumps that form under the skin. It often affects areas where the skin rubs together, such as your armpits and groin. The lumps become inflamed and painful

Oh my gosh - I have HS and I feel so gross and ashamed but seeing how many people have it too makes me feel so much better

This looked like feminine parts at first.

I stopped using deodorant with aluminum, made my own natural soaps, and detoxed my underarms weekly. Haven’t had a flair up in over two years.

Loved how informative she was! I have HS and it’s VERY difficult (and painful!) to live with and every person doesn’t react the same to certain treatments, but I’m happy that people are finding ways to live more comfortably with it ☺️

I don't have HS but I have Fox Fordyce and tried everything my entire life. I had permanent laser hair removal and it changed my life completely.

I have HS in the armpits, groin and buttocks. This disease has no mercy, it is very painful. For me I take oral meds and an injection of Cosentyx. I also have had surgeries in the arm pit and now iam waiting for the plastic surgeon to call to operate on the groin area...it sucks to live this way but I figure life could have thrown worse lemons @ me than HS...God Bless you all

I’m a laser technician and one of my clients has HS, she’s seen such an amazing improvement in her flare ups! She has done LHR in the underarm and Brazilian and barely has issues in those areas anymore

I have HS and my wax lady has never heard of it so I had to educate her. She wasn’t grossed just very curious abs I’m glad to spread the awareness of this debilitating disease.

Hi! I have HS in the groin that was SEVERE, but is now significantly managed. Managed so much that some of my DEEP scar tissue has been able to heal in ways I never imagined. Some things that helped me personally ASIDE from medical treatments (I was receiving wound care, Kenelog injections, oral meds and more) included 1. Getting a few laser hair removal sessions (didn't need to fully finish them, just lessening the amount of hair made a huge difference) 2. If I did need to shave, I would exfoliate GENTLY but thoroughly, use a brand new razor that hasn't been exposed to any other areas, like don't shave your legs then your HS affected area with the same razor unless you shave the HS area first, when it's got brand spankin' new fresh blades. After shaving, I allow the area to dry completely and sometimes I will apt a very light amount of my body lotion (unscented lubriderm lotion with the red cap, only use unscented products in that area!) and let it absorb for a few more minutes before I continue about my routine. If you don't wait for the skin to dry enough, the warmth and moisture can play a significant role in my wounds popping back up.
3. I changed the type of clothing I wore to keep from rubbing on the area where my wounds were the worst. I still will wear tight fitting clothing, jeans, etc, but I wash pants much more often to keep the area clean and I make sure before I'm putting tight fitting clothes on that I've allowed my skin to fully dry. Yes, it's going to get damp again from sweat, friction, and such, but this gives me better results while allowing me to be as fashionable as I want.
4. This is a bit of a continuance of 3, but somewhat separate - whatever type of sleep wear you prefer (if you choose to wear clothes, some HS patients are suggested to sleep without them), wear a new set every night, and make sure they're not super tight. So instead of leggings, I do pajama pants or running shorts that are 2 sizes too big. Loose fitting, thin fabric that you don't mind getting stained if you have a wound pop up out of the blue. I have 4 sets of long pj bottoms, 4 sets of running shorts (the kind that have that inner layer which is almost a built in pair of underwear or second layer of protection from wandering eyes at the gym, you know what I mean!) that are way too big, a few pairs of leggings that are like 3 sizes too big and a few night gowns for when it's *really bad*. Luckily I haven't had to use those in over 2 years now!
5. Get in a regular habit of doing wound checks. Even if you're doing fine, sit down in a mirror once a week, have a feel around, get a good visualization of the area and then if things start to change, you'll be able to notice quicker and intervene as necessary to lessen the impact of the flare. Much like people are supposed to do regular checks of their breasts, to notice any lumps that may show up. If you need to, get pictures to track your wounds and use that data to get your treatment plan catered exactly to you and your needs.
I started needing weekly Kenelog injections, spent over 4 months on oral steroids, many months on and off antibiotics and was really not well for about 3 years. Spent about 2 years doing okay, and have now had only 3 wounds needing treatment in the last 3 years. I haven't needed an injection in all of '22, which is wild cause we're more than 11 months in.
Give your body time, find what works for you and if you read this far, thank you!! Leave an emoji that depicts how you're feeling right now. Mine is 🤓 after that whole nerd-out moment.

I'm super surprised more recognition and awareness is being done. Especially for someone who has suffered for well over 23 years. Definitely warms my heart to see this.

Diet is the key to treating and keeping this condition in check...
1: Please have half a teaspoon of natural turmeric power with warm water - in the night before you sleep
2: Fusibet cream ( any cream with Fusidic Acid in it)
3: Avoid red meat
4: do not wax - just trim
I hope this helps 🙏

I am a hs warrior 💪🏾 so happy more awareness is being spread about this horrible skin condition. Thanks for not being grossed out. We have enough body image issues from ourselves. Wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

I have had HS since I was 16 and I am now 36. In the last 2 years I have tried so many things and the only thing that has helped me a lot is using Magic hair removal, absolutely no shaving, boil ease drains an outbreak within minutes, absolutely no dairy products and wearing jeans will cause flare ups, use a spray deodorant and stay away from fragrance soaps, use all natural soaps. My flare ups only occur when I’m memstrating for some reason so avoid wearing pads or anything that rubs your skin. Prayers for everyone who has HS. You’re not alone. God heals and He will heal you! 🥰
