Should You Follow Your Dream?

Today we talk about following your dream or including your passion in your life even if it makes you scared. Also, please support those taking part in the WGA and SAG strikes! We want to encourage people to pursue creative careers, but we can't support new or current talent with the system we have now. I hope you all enjoyed today's video and thank you for watching :)

no cause this video hit home. being a creative in a very … money-focused society makes it so incredibly hard to actually pursue what you’re passionate about. also, being scared of not making your older self proud because you’re always under the perception that you work too little for your dreams is terrifying. your situation is PAINFULLY relatable 🥴

I burnt out in grad school, thought I was never going to draw or write again, but this year I’ve found myself doing it again and I’m glad that part of me is coming back. I needed this today 😅

Literally packed up my car and moved to Hollywood to become a director last July!! Currently watching this during my break on set (for also an independent film, not crossing picket lines either lol)

I'm never gonna give up writing and comedy, paid or not, but I do think direction is as complex as you said. SO many ways to walk these paths and so many destinations to get to. It's never a straight line!

All I know is that Emily should follow her dreams! She is gonna be an amazing actress!

I had the opposite problem. I had no passions. I discovered coding recently initially as a means of trolling YandereDev and later making a fan game/romhack and hope to pursue a career as a software engineer, despite turning 30 in several months. It doesn't seem like a lesson for you guys, since I don't see a lot of people in the comments with the problem, but it's never too late to pursue those passions.

I never felt I lacked ability or didn't have confidence, I just didn't have goals.

love how authenic you are, there's so many competitive and or creative job fields i want to pursue but have constantly ran back to the same square, "what if it doesn't work out?" but honestly, trying and failing is better than never trying and being regretful.

i am 16 years old with “ambitions” to become a doctor but i have no passion for it. my true passion lies in music but i just don’t have the means or support to fulfil it. this video was so inspirational and i genuinely feel now that i have a shot at following my dreams. thank you, emily, for the nudge ❤

I love that over the time I’ve watched Emily, I’ve become more accurate at trying to predict the jokes she’ll make before she says them

I want to be a author; specifically to write mystery novels. I'm in my teenage years so I thought I could never do it right now, maybe after I go to college I thought I could do it then after, but I was very skeptical. Also, I was afraid of bullying if i did end up publishing something, I'm already looked down upon for being a book worm so, yeah. But, I looked past it all and I'm currently writing my first novel to hopefully be published in the next year or two! And you're right, you have to be SO delusional to make this happen haha

I would also like to add, dw about being “late” for your dreams. Just because someone accomplished your dream earlier doesn’t mean you missed your chance. You’re on YOUR own timeline so can’t really be late. I believe in all of you!! And I can’t wait for your short film Emily🤭

I guess we are all scared to reach our dreams, since it feels so unachievable. And nobody to guide us, bur your right Emily the worst thing that can happen is we resent ourselves for not trying. Thanks for your inspiration

This is the MOST on point video for my life right now. I'd love to become an actor, but i don't have connections, havent grown up rich, dont live in a big city and dont know where to start. Sometimes it all feels impossible.

7:18 - This is the most important bit. Always trying, never giving up, doing what you can with what you have, it all comes back to having the belief that you can, and WILL do it. As long as the "delusion" is backed up with action, eventually, it will no longer be a delusion! 👍🏼

Also, CAN'T WAIT FOR THE FILM! 🤩

1:35 This is amazing. Getting a job doesn't have to mean giving up on our dreams. It's tough doing both, but the reward in the end is that much sweeter.

I guess the lesson is don’t pursue the creative arts to be famous because that isn’t always guaranteed to happen. Pursue the arts because you just simply want to create and because it will add meaning to your life.

Thanks for your inspirational video, Emily. We should all follow our dreams, even if it scares us. We tend to regret the things we didn't do, as opposed to the ones we did, and we might just discover something unexpected about ourselves.

Honestly, this came at such a crucial moment. It’s so easy to give up on our dreams, goals and miss opportunities.

I am about to start college and registered for classes yesterday. Woke up extremely motivated to post a video on my dance acc and make some management plans but once I was met with a feeble attempt to get dressed I just saw myself and the mirror and let my doubts control me.

I thought to myself I should just stick to what I’m already good at.
