In this video, we delve into the reasons why athletes often experience fear on game day and how it can hinder their performance. Fear of failure, fear of the unknown and fear of criticism are the three main reasons why athletes play with fear. The fear of failure can lead to a lack of confidence, causing them to play it safe and not make an impact on the game. Fear of the unknown occurs when athletes encounter something unfamiliar, causing anxiety and uncertainty. Fear of criticism and judgment can cause a lack of confidence and self-doubt, leading to a less than impressive performance.

However, fear doesn't have to hold athletes back. We provide five practical tips to help you become the fearless athlete you want to be, starting with having a pre-performance routine. A consistent pre-performance routine is one of the simplest ways to gain a feeling of control over the situation, which can help alleviate fear. By following this and other tips, athletes can improve their performance and become the confident, fearless athletes they are meant to be.

I am so glad I found your channel. I am from Brazil, and I work very hard to become a pro footballer. I have the best mentality in most of the teams I go because it is my biggest priority. Keep up the amazing work, it is very helpful. Try and make a video on how to completely eliminate overthinking / pre-game anxiety. Thanks !

"Fear is the greatest obstacle to learning. But fear is your best friend. Fear is like fire. If you learn to control it, you let it work for you. If you don’t learn to control it, it’ll destroy you and everything around you." - Cus D'Amato

1:13 I literally watched This bit five times.
You described what happened to me last week excellently, i was sooo afraid of making mistakes that i ended up like a ghost in the pitch. Which surprised my Coach, who took me to play with older year bc of my exceptional skills. 😢

Focus on the task at hand
Make yourself feel controlled before training or playing games
Make positive self talk ex. "Of course im gonna score" Im always the best I always have been" " Im gonna show myself
Reset yourself when you feel like your too mentally stressed
Accept what happens just play your game
You learn from mistakes who cares
Be happy to fail
Use it as energy
Just accept and work harder

Great video - I almost disagree however with playing it safe/getting some early passes in the beginning of the game. If you rely on the outcomes being positive and need that to be confident, then when your first pass is bad then you instantly drop confidence. Real confidence is believing that irrespective of the last action, the next one will be positive if that makes sense. Basically i'm saying, if you were truly confident missing a few shots in a row or in the beginning of a game wouldn't shake your confidence

How do you remain fearless when performing in your sport 👇

Fear in sports can hinder performance due to fear of failure !
- Establish a pre-performance routine to gain a sense of control over the situation and reduce fear.
- Focus on small wins to break down the event into manageable steps, boosting in-game confidence.
- Create a Fearless Mantra to boost confidence and maintain composure during challenging moments.
- Use a reset button, like snapping an elastic band, to mentally reset after mistakes and refocus on the present.
- Embrace acceptance attitudes, accepting nervousness as a natural part of the process and channeling it into productive energy.
