Mel's chances aren't looking too good. I'm still holding out a tiny sliver of hope, but I'm very scared. That last image matching the statue in the intro is insane.

Btw I love that Noxus is coming to Piltover, because it kinda means that Mel’s painting of Noxian ships at the harbor foreshadowing.

Honestly I can’t see Viktor choosing to use the Hexcore of his own volition after how he reacted to Sky’s death—at least not in this stage of his character development. My theory is that Jayce, Viktor and Mel all survived the Council attack. Viktor will be very injured and maybe Mel as well, but Mel will be expected to fully recover while Viktor will not. Jayce finds out the extent of Viktor’s experimentation with the Hexcore (but not about Sky’s death) and chooses to use it to save Viktor’s life. Viktor wakes up not relieved, but *outraged* that Jayce would use the Hexcore even when Viktor made him swear to destroy it. This is the final nail in the coffin to their friendship.

Here are my personal takes:
• When Ambessa says "Your council is dead" she meant emotionally. The council is afraid, shaken, in chaos, disheveled, cut down (some died but not everyone), and in discord.
• I think Ambessa is talking to Mel. In S1 they reconnected and had some heart-to-hearts, I think she's advising her daughter on what to do & pushing an agenda...

After what happened to Skye I can't picture Viktor going forward and using the Hexcore to augment/heal himself unless Ambessa, Jayce and possibly even Mel are all super radicalized by Jinx's attack. The most powerful people left in control of Piltover all unanimously deciding to push for Hextech weaponry and cracking down on Zaun sounds like the perfect nightmare scenario that would force Viktor to decide "I need to live if only to protect my people from them" which could over the course of s2 lead to his complete Glorious Evolution. I wonder if he will create Blitzcrank to help defend Zaun against Piltover?

I don't think that Jayce or Mel necessarily need to die, in my mind Ambessa could join the fight wanting to take out who attempted to murder her daughter, whilst also being able to justify it as defending Piltover as a trade partner to Noxus. Then again it would be a very dramatic opening for season 2 for a main character like Mel to get taken out.

Viktor IS in the trailer as you said he is there for one frame and he is probably the hooded figure.
My hypothesis, as a League player is that half the council is dead including Mel but Jayce and Vicktor don't die.
Even if the writters said that everyone could die they WONT kill the champions, we all know it's impossible. And the tone that Ambessa talks to in the trailer... yeah Mel definitly died to me

Ambessa's opposite isn’t a diplomat. Her opposite is a caring, supportive, defending mother who does not view the feelings and influence of her daughter as a weakness. For this transformation to occur, Mel must survive, but be heavily injured, perhaps even permanently handicapped and/or disfigured. This will deeply impact Mel emotionally and psychological, destroying her confidence in her previous world view. It will cause Mel to develop a new empathy for Ambessa, and why her mother sent her away.

All of this will lead to Ambessa embracing motherhood in a new way that result in she and Mel developing a closeness neither thought possible. Mel takes up her mother's views on the needs for hextech weapons and the actions one must take to ensure the safety of their family.

I think Mel will get some type of hextech hardness/brace that resembles her gold back piece that allows her to walk again. Perhaps she even begins some type of training with Ambessa as her health improves.

I think Mel is alive because if Ambessa really was mourning her daughter, she would say WE will have justice. I think Mel will become a little bit more like her mother and she will be in critical condition so maybe Ambessa is taking over and Mel let's her.

The hooded guy that might be viktor, I cant get over how much he looks like a depiction of death. His cane in that explody frame looks like a scythe and in the black cloak with the high contrast white head looks like what people usually depict as a grim reaper
