Calisthenics is arguably the most challenging methods of training in all of fitness. Push ups, dips, pull ups and more make up up the bulk of calisthenics training. But what makes it so difficult? Can You build muscle training just calisthenics? Does it build strength and does it transfer over into other forms of training? In this video we will discuss all of that and more. As well as provide you more information on why you should be training calisthenics and why it is indeed the best method of training.

In your fitness journey, which out of these two are most important? Having a nice physique or strength?

Calisthenics transfers well to other areas because calisthenics is where strength meets body coordination. You are getting strength through learning how to coordinate your body movements. . .

I love calisthenics. Never understood why people hate on it, like how does the thought of being able to workout no matter what bother you? If you’re in a fall out bunker you ain’t going to be benching, you’re going to be doing push ups. But thats just an extreme example ofc.

Sweet video bro 💯 I used simple callisthenics at first with Isometric holds to build strength, then started adding a weight bag to my routine. Callisthenics is still the holy grail, but train using weights to win win.. keep up the vids from glasgow scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Another thing I like about calisthenics is that you can never really max it out. If you can do a lot of pushups and they're too easy for you, just lean forward until you're screaming from trying to attempt a Pseudo Planche Pushup. There's many progressions for just about every movement that can make it easier or more difficult depending on your needs. It's really the gift that keeps on giving.

The only "downside" is that you might not be able to train your legs as effectively with just your body weight. It's certainly still possible, given that if your goal is hypertrophy (muscle growth) then studies show that the rep range for that is anywhere from about 5 - 30 (this is the range given by Dr. Mike Israetel, and other studies have given ranges that are more or less within this range). The "problem" is that the legs are just so big and powerful, and the only calisthenics exercise that can really challenge them is the pistol squat, which has a huge balance component to it. Plus, high rep training is not something that many people want to do, especially if they are in a time crunch.

Considering all this, it's just like you said at the end of the video. I do think calisthenics is the ultimate training method. Especially as per your first point, it makes you see the world as a playground. However, there's really no need to be so dogmatic about a training discipline. Anything that can get you off the couch and using your body is always gonna be a plus.

Why not try to do both weightlifting and body weight training

Simply put, there's nothing you can get from weight lifting, that you CAN'T get with calisthenics alone, but there's plenty you can get from calisthenics alone, that you cannot get from weight lifting alone. This is why I think a lot of weight lifters be hatin on calisthenics on the low. . .

Any training modality that suits your goals, whether it’s weights or calisthenics, anything that keeps you training long term. Calisthenics has limits on how strong you can become within the range of those movements.

What are you even talking about? In 10 seconds you showed allready that you do not know what weightlifting is😂😂
First dude is doing a Snatch and yes it is part of Crossfit but it comes from (olympic) weightlifting. And although bench pressing is lifting weights, no one in the know would call it weightlifting.

To get more to the point of the video. Calistenics are very good, for your upper body. So saying it it the best mode of training is kind of ridiculous. You get little to no loading of the spine and lower body which can be very important for bone mineral density. Do „Calistenics exercises“ but don‘t limit yourself to only doing them. Also small aside but the argument of doing Calistenics everywhere is so weird, have you tried doing pullups with a pullup bar? The only thing well rounded when really training with nothing but your body will be your back once you try a deadlift 😂😂
