I switched to an ULTRA-processed food diet for 30 days

During finals week, I used to buckle down and study nonstop, which meant I turned to the most convenient meal options possible--fast food. But whenever I eat fast food, I feel gross. So it got me thinking, does fast food have any impact on my studying and productivity? I decided to experiment for myself to see what a 30-day fast food challenge would do to me.

🙏 Thanks for watching!

A lot of health influencers pretend that fast food tastes like garbage, but I like how you're honest about it. They're designed to taste good so you would come back. It just makes you feel physically and mentally bad.

I’d love to watch this with a version of homemade fast food—grilled cheese and canned soup, Kraft Mac and cheese, homemade burgers and fries, etc. I would love to see if they cause the same reaction

This sounds like the most dangerous and delicious 30 day challenge possible

"Reading the same sentence over and over
again trying to understand what it meant" Wow! Now I know why I always feel lazy during studying! This video literally had all the answers to my laziness! I need to change my diet ASAP!

Cheap fast and processed foods is all we could afford growing up, and now that I'm an overweight adult trying slim down I still get astounded at trying to solve a current issue that only exists because I was poor. Now that I can afford better foods I am doing my best to get to a healthy weight and it's been working so far even though I still have a long way to go.

Another thing about fructose is that when eaten in whole food form, like within fruit, there is fiber to slow down or minimize absorption. So therefore when eating fruit fructose you don’t consume as much :)

This is eye opening! I eat a pretty high processed diet and struggle with my energy and brain fog all of the time. I knew something was wrong, but it’s easy to forget just how important diet is.

LOL I learned the veggies then meat then carbs from my friend when we went out for hot pot the first time. I kept going for the noodles right away and she was like no no no you’re going to fill up too fast and can’t enjoy the rest. I never went back after that

And yet, I have always been criticized for being such a slow eater! Thank you, I’m gonna continue eating slow; it definitely helps to enjoy the food instead of downing it.

Great video. My masters thesis was on the effects of processed/fast food on learning in adolescents, so your experience reflects the evidence I found. Having a diet of processed/fast food affects your memory and cognitive function by a lot. I’ve always been health conscious and make sure to live a healthy lifestyle for my brain and body. With that said…… Taco Bell is also my favorite fast food and now I want it 🤤

5:17 It being liquid plays a huge part, I am diabetic and cannot drink sugary sodas as it digests too quickly for insulin to react in time. If I wish to drink something with sugar it must be with a full meal as it delays the digestion of the soda. Also, foods high in fat also make the body more resistant to insulin, so the fats in fast food can cause a problem the same way hence why 2 meals that contain the same carbs, burger vs rice can be processed so differently, as the liver has to also process the fats, this especially affects foods like pizza as it is high in carb and fat. This is actually known as the 'pizza effect' and makes it a very bad food for productivity (and diabetics :)) as it puts you straight into that food coma.

This is kinda like a click bait. When he said fast food diet, I thought he meant that he would eat nothing but fast foods for 30 days.

I always never finish my meals.

The second I feel full, food stops feeling good. Even if I'm eating someone's meal, or in a restaurant. I can't force feed myself. And people absolutely hate it.

Type 1 diabetic here. You probably feel tired not only from reactive Hypoglacymia but also from a big jump up of glucose itself. High blood sugar can have really big effect on your concentration too especially if your body is not used to these levels and big change

I've watched plenty of these documentaries and this one is by far the best. Detailed, honest, genuine, funny & informative!

Fast food in Europe (specifically UK) is not cost effective at all, it’s way cheaper to buy your own groceries and cook up a meal.

I haven't watched this video yet but I'm an uber eats driver and this basically looks like my diet. I'm health conscious and I try to eat "the healtiest options" on the road like been burrito or veggie burrito from taco bell, or the breakfast wrap from sonic. So I'm super interested to see how this plays out.

I've been on a fast food diet for 6 months. I've lost 75lbs. Each week I pick a restaurant and every day is 1500 calories from that restaurant for the week. I take a daily vitamin, and one day a week I will make some chicken and a salad. That is my "cheat meal". My favorite restaurants are taco bell, domino's, and chik-filet. Pizza weeks are my favorite, as one $8 pizza is enough for two days worth of calories just about. It's actually not that expensive because I haven't bought any groceries in half a year.
