Which foods are ultraprocessed? You might be surprised.

Many nutrition scientists blame overeating fats or carbohydrates for the world's obesity pandemic. But new research points to “ultraprocessed” foods such as chicken nuggets and instant soup mixes that dominate modern diets. These foods seem to distort signals between the gut and brain that normally tell us we are full, so instead people overeat.

I was hoping for a discussion and explanation about what exactly "ultraprocessed" is and why it's bad...

I dropped ultra-processed foods a long time ago because of the excess sugar and salt. I make my own baked goods so I can control the sugar, you won't find ''junk'' or ''snack'' foods here, just fruit and nuts and veg and meat, with some dairy. eating right isn't hard, it's just something you have to practice to get good at.

Meh, I hate these vague socially constructed words. There is no objective, fact-based way of defining what any of the categories mean. Do you have any idea how many different chemicals there are in a tomato, for example? There are probably hundreds of different amino acids, proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates, lipids, and so on. And if you cook them, many more will be produced. So why should a cooked tomato be "minimaly processed" while just adding two or three chemicals and physically altering the food make it "ultraprocessed"? and just how much of each chemical do you need to add? and which chemicals? etc...

Most of those foods were in grocery stores for decades. So why are people just now getting fat? Cookies cereal and canned soup and yogurt are not new.
There's got to be more to the story.

None of the foods you eat in America are non-processed.

This video is seriously lacking in scientific method which is quite sad given the channel in question.
It's easy to blame certain types of food for causing obesity.
Occam's razor suggests the true reason is otherwise.
