Florida Deputy Suspected of DUI Fired After Making Excuses for Driving Drunk

Bodycam footage shows a Florida deputy being pulled over on suspicion of DUI in May 2022. Shelby Alyse Coniglio was fired from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office after she was arrested for allegedly driving drunk. Coniglio made excuses for her alleged intoxication, including that she was wearing contact lenses and moving furniture earlier.

Not sure why the Alex Wubbels case was listed next, but that's an incredinle.example of.police brutality. The officer wanted a blood sample because that person had been hit by a driver they had been pursuing who died, and they wanted to minimize liability since the injured man was an off-duty cop. At the time the police could collect blood samples with "implied consent, " which is NOT actual legal grounds to collect a sample. Nurse Wubbels was absolutely defending the patient's legal rights when she refused to allow the sample collection, and the dirty cop handcuffed her and put her in his car for 10 minutes without charging her. The patient ended up dying from his injuries.

I remember that nurse. Very brave and she stood her ground to protect her patient, who was not a suspect but a victim. My guess is the cops wanted a blood draw in order to see if he was somehow under the influence, in order to make it easier to save themselves from any trouble because they just had a vehicle chase that resulted in two deaths. They wanted to blame his death on himself.
