I don't even bother going that far with it. I just put it in a jar and place it in the fridge. Its great for biscuits. However, you can do this with hamburger fat making beef tallow.
First drain your hamburger into a deep bowl. Fill it to double the amount with water and place it in the fridge overnight. Separate whats clearly the fat from the water and collagen. Then place the solid fat into a pot of boiling water for a few minutes to clean it up. Place it back in the fridge to solidify again and separate one more time. You could go further to clean it up by repeating these steps until every drop of collagen and meat particles are gone but one time is usually enough for cooking. If you were going to make soap or candles id suggest that. Otherwise store in jars in the fridge. Its excellent for deep frying. Hamburger seems to produce much more than anything else for its price.
