Why clone the hard drive to a larger drive? The most common reason is to solve low disk space issues and increase disk capacity. Besides, replace the old disk that has been used for many years with a new disk, or clone the SSD to a larger SSD to increase the performance of your computer.

✅ 【Detail】
Cloning is very useful when you want to clone a disk to a larger disk. And in most cases, this is a one-time operation, that works best when your computer is running properly. We should connect your larger drive to the computer and make sure it can be detected.
1. First, click AOMEI Backupper to come to its homepage. You could see the options on the left.
2. Next, click clone and click disk clone.
3. Select your source disk, here is disk 0, and click next.
4. Select the destination disk, here is disk 2 which is larger than the source disk, and click next.
5. Confirm the details of both disks, if you are cloning the disk to a larger SSD, it's recommended to tick "SSD Alignment" to optimize the performance of the SSD disk and click Start Clone.

Except for cloning a hard drive to a larger one with the "Disk Clone" feature, AOMEI Backupper also offers you another way to achieve the same effect - it is backup and restore. This way is very useful to protect your system and data continuously and it's a great way to reduce the losses when your computer encounters unexpected failure.
1.At the homepage of AOMEI Backupper. Click Backup on the left, and click disk backup.
After it is finished you will get a backup image, with this backup image, you can restore it to the new hard drive if something bad happens.
2. Click restore, here we can select the backup image we just created.
4. Select Restore the entire disk and click Next.
5. Select the destination disk which is larger than the source disk and click next.
6. Preview the details and click Start Restore.
After it is finished, you can restart your computer and see if it can boot normally.

In AOMEI Backupper version 7.0.
The SYSTEM "Disk Clone" feature is only available in the Pro version.
DATA "Disk Clone" is still available in the Standard version.

Thank you for these videos. I have the Backupper Pro and it is excellent. I bought a new SSD to replace the 1T HD but after watching this video think I will use the new SSD and do a backup on it instead. HD is working fine so maybe a better way to use both. With doing a full backup can I occasionally refresh the data on the SSD.

After following the instructions for the first option, this software wants me to play $45 just to clone my drive, which should be an internal windows function or be included with the ssd. Certainly not going to pay $45 when I know there are free options out there. I already back up my drive with another piece of software that wants a little less to "clone" my drive. Once again, this should just be a quick little utility that really should be part of Windows disk management.

Which is the preferred method for copying data to a new replacement SSD drive. Clone or backup? I want to replace my 240GB SSD with 960GB and want everything to be on the new SSD when I boot up from it.

shame it $50 to do this, you should probably mention that in the video. What a scam.
