I believe an even better way is to just stick a bunch of apples together and save that to autobuild and then have autobuild pull them down for you

That is very cool (pun intended) but you know what is an even bigger IQ move ?
Stick ~10 apples to eachother with ultrahand and save it with autobuild. When you're near a bunch of trees, just pull out the blueprint and all the apples will come flying at you

Just letting you know this WILL use weapon durability. Swinging magic rods drains them regardless of if you hit anything.

Doesn't it still consume your Ice rod? Seems much more cost efficient to just chop the tree down with an axe. You get the extra wood and korok frond with it too. Not to mention how much less acessible Magic rods are in general.

I prefer cutting it down with stick and stone. Cheap, i got woods, nuts, frond, and apples
