Autism and employment challenges

We talk to Autistic individuals about their experiences of finding employment and look at the benefits of employing individuals that think differently.

As an autistic adult who was diagnosed in there 30s I've always struggled getting new jobs and coping at work. Many hours spent in tears in the toilet or managers office many different psychiatric medications and counselling. I can't get benefits as I don't meet thresholds. I have to work to live. I envy those who don't have to work.

Something legislatively needs to be done to protect autistic workers.

Exactly how I am feeling because I am in the vote right now because I am trying to find a job. I recently graduated college, and going through some struggles of finding something

As somebody on the autism spectrum, I think it’s okay to say that 77% of people want to work but if you really want a job so badly, you actually have to go out there and find something. Doing that is hard. If I can do it, anybody can. Just don’t give up.

Do British people diagnosed with autism qualify for disability? Do most employers shun autistic employees?
