Huawei 4G Router Tips, Hacks and Tricks for better performance. B535-232 Band locking

In this video we share our review of using the Huawei B535-232 (which is the same Router you get with the Motorhome WiFi 5G Flex Package.) and some great features to help it perform better, when using external antennas including Band Locking.

If you don't want to purchase second hand you can purchase a New or Renewed B535-232 from Amazon here

You can find the Java Script to add the Band Locking Menu here:

And here is a step by step of how to add the bookmark in Chrome.

If you are using Chrome on an Android Phone there are a couple of weird niggles that you need to work around so a couple of things to check.

1. Adding the bookmark - I added the bookmark from the laptop into Chrome and then this synced to Chrome on the Android phone - rather than creating it on the phone.

2. After you have logged in to the Admin page for the router you can't open the bookmark from the bookmarks menu as in Chrome for Android it doesn't apply the JavaScript to the page you are on. What you need to do is open the bookmark by searching for it in the address bar.

Great info, thanks. I had a bit of an issue getting the javascript to function - worked perfect on laptop but couldn't get it to work on mobile (Android), till I worked out, login, then click the url bar and type the name of the javascript book mark, then click it and it works perfect. Had a play with bands and went from 4Mb to 149Mb!! Amazing. Thanks

I brought this router when you recommended it and I can't fault it. I was going to get external antennas till i started to test it with the bunny ear antennas set to mixed setting and it performs great and I even have it mounted behind my fridge built into the cupboard and I always have great signal. Got a screen shot of 98 down and 30 up

Great video and very practical tips.
The Java script also works on Huawei B818-263 and thanks to your tips managed to figure the fast 4g band in my very rural area, and unsurprisingly it turned the lower dB 80 band was slow barely over8mbs and the high db 112 was getting over 35mbs. Now up the ladder and let's try and get them DBs to lower numbers.

We bought this router after watching your original video- using a puck 2 - may I ask would a Poynting puck 4 or higher number benefit us?

My bad. i did something wrong after all. I owe you a pint !. It is a B535-333 indeed and it now works perfect.
i first got it to work with safari develop mode were you can force it to read java script. and now it works with chrome as you showed in the video.
seen download speed with internal antenna of 203mbps now going to look for a good external antenna.

Hi some great stuff on your posts thanks: so I’ve plunged for the B535-235a and get some amazing speeds but would like to know if you can hotspot an iPhone to the router to provide an alternative/backup to the integral data sim?

Thanks

Dave

Hello and thank you for this, @ExploreVanUK . Does this mean that when buying this router second-hand from another country, any frequency-band lock that might be applied can always be unlocked? Is there a risk that there might be hardware-based frequency-band blocks?

Great video. The Huawei B535 has a number of models, does the extended (JavaScript) menu work on the B535-333, B535-235 or is it just for the B535-232 the model you are testing?

Excellent video, as always! Do you know of this is possible on a Netgear Nighthawk M1, by any chance? If not, do you think its worth selling that, and getting one of these at a far cheaper price? Thanks!

6:30 "So, we've connected it to band 1, and now we've put it back to AUTO, so it locked band one but also aggregated any other signals ..." I don't understand, can you please please explain in plain English? Also, I have another question. In the antenna settings there is an option called "Mix" (Other than Auto, Internal, and External), which one do I use?

I bought this router a few months ago and have been pleased with its performance. However I struggled to get it to work in France with my Lyca SIM card. Is there a change to its settings needed when used with a uk SIM card abroad? Or do I need to change to a different Sim
Thanks
Jim
