When I became an eagle Scout my mom mailed Les and asked him to write me a congratulation letter since he was a huge inspiration for me. Les wrote me an awesome letter and I still have it framed in my house. Thank you for your kind words all those years ago Les!

I like how hes honest with himself, saying hes made mistakes and probably would make more mistakes in a survival situations. Not claiming that hes perfect at it

One time when I was 10 years old I messaged Les on twitter saying how much I admire him, and he responded back by correcting my grammar. What a man

I love that he says "Here's what you SHOULD do" and then immediately acknowledges that in the moment, in that life or death situation, you absolutely wouldn't. You would do the wrong thing and die, because humans suck under pressure. That's how you know this guy is the real deal.

"I don't know which bear this is, in Hollywood terms...it's probably Bart"
Of course Survivorman is on first-name terms with bear celebrities

Lol the story of the village elder checking up on him over and over in the forest was great. Dude probably knew how dangerous it was and thought "this white man is going to be panther food"

Les Stroud doesn't get half the credit he deserves. This dude is hands down the toughest guy I've ever seen.

Thank you for being so compassionate and respectful about the survivors of the Andes crash. What those people endured was unimaginable, and no one has any right to criticize them

I love that Les doesn't pretend to be perfect. Admitting that he did some stupid stuff and has a lot of teachable moments.

The best, and most intelligently spoken survivalist period. Nothing but admiration and appreciation for you sir. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

The part about the native elder checking in on him is seriously so cute and pure I love it!

That shaman following him in the jungle making sure he's ok is unbelievably wholesome

"Alaska doesn't care if you're charming", "nicely groomed bear, by the way", lotta great lines in this video and possibly some shade at another survivor man.

he needs to do this as a series... just him talking about things like this.

The story about the native elder and the huntsman keeping track of Les to make sure he's okay are both so adorable. Love it.

That's actually really sweet when he says when he's trying to survive 'alone' people keep watching over him. Honestly, the key to our species is our collaboration.

I’m glad he said that about Chris. His story is so sad and dangerous to me. Many of my outdoors friends idolize him as a true individualist who was just trying to find himself and lost. In reality, i feel his arrogance (can’t think of a less harsh word) got the better of him. We cannot make it without others. Survival takes extensive practice, preparation and humility. You have to meet your surroundings with respect or they will humble you.

I like how even he admits that he would probably run away if he encountered a bear

10:50 hearing him talk about that village elder just hanging around to make sure he's okay.... that's such a great little snippet.

As someone who barely ever leaves the house, I know if it came down to self- reliant survival in the wilderness I would undoubtedly die. But it’s still super interesting to watch these videos and imagine what it might be like…
