Why did Thanos have to wait for Odin to die to collect the Infinity Stones??

In comics, Odin fought and damaged Galactus with their battle resulting in a draw. He is on par with a moderately fed Galactus at full power.
He is strongest skyfather.

Odin did not die of old age he just turned into pure energy because he lived so long

The “Destroyer” armor from the first Thor movie made by all of the Allfathers to fight the Celestials. It was made for Odin to wear. Imagine how fast Thanos and his forces would have been smashed by Allfather Odin wearing that.

Odin would find out that Thanos invaded Nidavellir. He promised to protect the nine realms, so he would fight against Thanos for Nidavellir, and Thanos, without stones, couldn’t stand a chance

Odin is not dead . He turned to pure energy and went to Valhalla. He could return.

Also. If a Asgardian dies in Battle or later dies from a battle. They go to Valhalla.

It's true Odin didn't die of old age, he just lived for so long he wanted peace, he had no wife, his kids were all grown and he had conquered everything that he wanted, he made peace with life and with death... Once a tyrant conquerer now a peaceful king ... Did he made it to Valhalla? Naw because he didn't die in battle 😜 rest in peaces destroyer

Thanos didnt wait for his death. We see in Endgame that he was already looking for them in 2012, 5 years before Odin passed😅

The scene where Thanos announces that he’s collecting the stones himself was in the post credit scene in Age of Ultron, which is few years before Odin died. You can make an argument that Thanos chose to attack Asgard after Odin’s death, but the decision to collect the stones has nothing to do with Odin.

I don't remember MCU ever say anywhere Hela actually die there when Asgard was destroyed.
