For dealing with the blue, blur the hard edge, then Filters -> Noise -> Spread and then blur the spread, repeat if needed.

Your explanation is too fast to follow and for advances user, which may using this tool for a long time. You need to asume that if someone is looking for a video to just remove an image using GIMP, it is because we are NOT familiar with the tool. Even looking 25 times your video, I could not follow you.
