I don't live there but used to have a place by Madiera beach and have spent a lot of time there in years past, beautiful area, John's Pass, Treasure Island I have a lot of great memories of great times spent there, it's so sad to see this.

I am grateful 😇 that my area in Largo which is in between Clearwater and St. Petersburg did not have hardly any rain just a lot of wind for two hours. After watching this video I just can’t believe how much damage we had on the surrounding beaches big time 😮😮😮

Lived in Sarasota and Siesta Key for many years. Vacationed before that at Indian Rocks. Out of state now. Appreciated this coverage, while WFLA (remember you and Salty Saul - perhaps CBS?) was in extreme circumstances. Prayers to all people affected by the devastation, and beloved beaches! Mother Nature will bounce back and so will region. Looks like surge worse than rest of storm! 🕊️

Thanks for showing Manatee Co. I wish I still lived there despite the hurricanes!

when I worked on school buses, they would buy used buses. Then we would find out they were sold from flood zones to a place in Canada and then back to the States. When we took the interior panels off for the constant electrical issues, there would be packed sand up past the bottom of the windows. cars may be parked because they want a new car

North of Mobile, Alabama. This is all heartbreaking. Lives have been changed in so many ways. I’m 96 miles inland, so no storm surge for us. If someone says to leave. I’m packing. Zeta scares the crap out of me 3 years ago. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Ya sure all the "Native Floridians" don't want to leave, and those who think they can't afford to move away" To be clear, you have to weigh both Evils. What's more important, YOUR LIFE or having to rebuild very often it seems like? It's really not been that long ago that you guys had a Hurricane. You get rebuilt and boom, it happens again. I would move to keep my family and myself safe no matter what it costs.

Stoppy update. From a live stream I just watched, Stoppy did fall, but someone propped Stoppy up on a tree right next to where he proudly stood.

Well this is God made land- beach- I dont no why ppl build so close on the beach, bc storms are coming and they are not gona stop coming. Insurance rates go up on others bc ppl keep rebuilding over and over property on the beaches!

It really could have been a lot worse. A LOT WORSE.

Also people need to remember that if they are strongly encouraged to evacuate because of high risk and they stay, when the come to the realization that they have made a bad choice, rescue teams may not be able to help you. It may no longer be viable for them to be out in such dangerous conditions.

JD? Ask the wildlife if they agree they’re living in paradise.

People joking about this acting like it’s “not that bad” are sick minded individuals i hope you get help.

the beaches in the Northwest get pounded by 20-40 foot waves in the fall and winter and sometimes into spring. There may be trees the size of school buses on the beach one day and the next day they are on their way to Japan. I tell people never turn your back on the Pacifi C. that is when it gets you either with a log or steals your dog

Nature trying to take back what belongs to it. It's all heartbreaking but what do people expect when they start destroying it, invading it and building in places that belongs to nature. All the debris that will be swept away into to water. Not all of it can be cleaned out of the water. It's just all sad. We need to respect mother nature.
May those who lost their lives rest in eternal peace.💔

To top things there is currently another possible storm brewing in the same area that birthed Helene... those waters have warmed a lot, and risk becoming major hurricane spawners.

It doesn't look like Crabbe's dock was damaged that looks like debris washed up on their deck area, the building didn't seem to have any wind damage either testament to FL building codes.
