Coming from guitar, there are times you want smooth voice leading, and times where you want the drama of big jumps between your chords. Neither is better than the other, you just need to have some intent behind it

Thanks for sharing how we can used different chord voicings to spice up your music playing instead of playing monotonous chords throughout the whole song. The mood of the music changed if you used the right mode chord voicings for the song (it can sound brighter, sad, mysterious, suspend, etc).

Voiceleading is everything. Playing random disconnected voicings or everything in parallel indicates that you don’t know how to handle those intervals.

Good lesson, but I disagree that the first version sounds lame. Basic maybe, but not lame.
