I own both, Oled is the way to go! Even my wife has commented on how better the g3 picture looks vs u8k

Agree with his last sentence - LED for value! 👍

Agree with this!!! There’s virtually no point me going to the cinema as my OLED gives a better picture in the comfort of my own living room. Even better at night when it’s dark out with no light coming through the blinds.

OLED (preferably QD-OLED) over projector or miniLED for me!

I own both too. I love the infinite contrast of OLED. I also love Miniled at times. I also just got a projector and screen and I like it very much too. It is nice to have choices. I tend to favor my OLEDS the most. Hey Caleb you are doing great things this year. Kudos to you buddy. 😊

On my living room I have a 65” QN95C wich is pretty much the best Mini led tv and if someone thinks it’s not, they’ll at least agree it’s definitely fighting for the title in the top 3.
And I use it for a mixture of console gaming and media consumption.

In my room I have a 42” LG C3, wich inside the Oled world, it’s Mid-high end, high end is reserved for QD Oleds or MLA panel Oleds.
I use this one for a mixture of PC Gaming and production and also media consumption.

My expectation was that the QN95C was going to have a bit more blooming on very dark scenes than the C3, but take the lead on daylight scenes with much more bright and vibrant colors, while the lower nits in the c3 were going to be more dull.
Nothing like that. The LED tv gets brighter indeed, but with considerably less contrast so colors look much more vibrant and alive on the Oled, they look like marketing says, they look “Inky” bit just the blacks, colours in general look inky.
Ironically enough, in my pursuit to close the gigantic Contrast gap betwee the 2 displays, I got to a point where I actually managed them to not look that different (with the oled still looking more contrast and vibrant) but to achieve it I ended up making the LED display actually even dimmer than the Oled. Since I had to go aggressive on local dimming, shadow detail, lower considerably, etc tweaks. So I ended up with an image that was neither brighter, neither better.
And I repeat, this is against a C3.
Had I made the comparison against an LG G3 or a Samsungs S95C and it would have been a bloodbath
In the end I accepted the LED tv for what it was. I gave up on trying to get comparable amounts of contrast of OLED and the embraced it’s slightly washed out brightness that in exchange makes the tv completely watchable during the day, on my living room, wich is no small feat, since it has 5 meters of continuous big windows throwing sunlight at it. My C3 would be useless during daytime on my living room.

That said LED just can’t compete with Oled not even the best ones

I got a Samsung S89C a couple of days ago and watched Oppenheimer on it last night. 😳🤯

It was totally worth spending just over $1900 after taxes to go from a edge lit Samsung 65" NU8000 to the 77" 89C.

To quote Ferris Bueller, "It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

LG C3 OLED - I own one since November in Europe, Romania. I went to the cinema to see the premiere for Fast and Furios 10 - the image quality on this TV looks way better - mind blowing - especially the 4K Dolby Vision-Atmos with IMAX Enhanced for the Marvel content on Disney+. The TV is also a beast for 4K gaming on the PS5 Slim. I payed around 891$ for the TV (105-106 cm version), an ethernet cable and a wall mount for it. 🙂

I am always nervous about burn-in on OLEDs. Why would I want to pay out the nose for something only to have it ruined within a couple of years?

Meanwhile, my Sony 1080p LCD TV is 14 years old and still going strong. I'm sure a modern mini LED or OLED TV would look better, but my TV still looks pretty damn good.

I'm still watching my LG 4K 65" Curved OLED TV from 2015 (65EG9600). No burn in anywhere, it works as it worked day one. No reflections. OLED brightness set to 80 and no issues watching it during daytime.

Yeah but an excessive user like many of us don't wanna deal with Burn in. Thats why I bought a MiniLEd cause I can give up having <5 percent better black levels and the black levels were always so black that I BARELY notice its not an OLED, I actually really have to look for it, plus it gets still brighter. I will use mine for atleast 2030. No OLED would hold on that lon without burn in.

Im not spending 3-6 k for an Oled here in Canada. My 65 GT30 Panny Plasma is doing its job almost 14 years later. When and if it does go i will look at a qled ( would like a 77 LG oled) and a decent Qled here is just under 2000k.

Id love an qd-oled but i play ps5 alot on my tv and i dont want burn in so mini-leds take the win for me for my usages

Oled is the way to go for a controlled mastering environment. To get a theater like experience the mini led in the XL size is better right now. Maybe with 8k we will see xl sizes, butbrhr pixels are too small to do it now.

I went for a 98’ mini LED QM7 for $2k. Best bang for the buck.

I noticed last time I was at the cinema that there were lots of greys at the top and bottom of the screen, almost like blooming. Anyway the point of that observation is that cinema isn’t OLED it is far more like LED. It is a great technology but how can it represent cinema when cinema is nothing like OLED with perfect black levels?

A 100 tv most of the time is more expensive than a projector. It is also harder to install being heavy and bulky for one person tthan a projector. So I dont know if you are right about this one.
