How to fix broken Steam URL shortcuts

This video was created on April 10th 2018, the computer is running Windows 10.
I had just disabled a few Windows features and installed some Windows updates, upon restarting, all of my Steam game shortcuts were broken. They were now blank white page icons with URL filetypes, I searched the web for about 15 minutes looking for a solution and all I found were tedious work-arounds that didn't actually fix the problem. So I hope this helps.

I've had enough of everyone suggesting i should change the icon of each game manually and find the .exe folder.

Thanks so much! This fixed my issue, I suspect disabling Internet Explorer was the culprit.
