Over time most steam mops will stop steaming. The failure is often related to hard water deposits collecting inside the steam unit. I'll show you the easiest method to unclog your Shark (or any other) steam mop and get the steam billowing out quick!

This worked for my Shark Genius!! I used to buy distilled water for it then got lazy. Kept putting our hard water in it and it was barely steaming at all. Working like a champ now. Thank you!

Excellent. I used cleaning vinegar instead. Worked like a charm. Thanks

Great tip! I have a Sparkle steam mop from "New Donaine" that we bought several years ago. Trying to use it tonight, we got no steam after multiple tries with just water. Put CLR in it and ran the pump. Soon after I started getting CLR steam and turned it off. I let it sit for a few hours, rinsed and ran the unit.

Steams great now. Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I left the CLR in the machine for two days (because I forgot it in the garage). I plugged it in knocked it a couple times on the ground and yeah steam poured out again. I appreciate your help; the machine is ONLY 6 years old and works like new. 😊😊😊😊

Brilliant it worked. Thanks. Used 30 seconds version product instead. Happy little steamer again.

My steam mop works again thanks to your video! I followed your directions to the letter using CLR and now it's working just like brand new! Be kind to your tools and they'll reward you? I suppose it's just common sense but some of us apparently are running around without it (including myself). I was actually entertaining the idea of buying another steam mop. I wonder how many I would have bought had I not found your video? Thanks again!

I did all the steps but it just drips water out. No steam. I hear the pump pumping. Do you by chance have any other thoughts of what to try next?

Sure as molasses, your recommended hack worked. A couple of hours wasn't enough, the patient 24 hrs soak w/the C.L.R .solution did the trick. Thanks for helping another common pleb fix a vexing issue, mate.

I put vinegar for a good 8 hours and nothing is happening 😢. Only the mop body gets hot. The base is cold and no signs of steam coming out. Should I leave the vinegar and plug it in longer?

@Shane’s Getting Handy, my problem is I can’t adjust the flow of steam. My steam mop is stuck on “low” and does produce low steam. The medium and high settings will not longer press/work. Any advice?

What were the ominous drops from? My Hoover drips from the side out of this little rubber weep hole. Can’t find anything on it

Couldn't you use vinegar instead of CLR? Less noxious :)

Hey, I love my steam mop but it did the same thing. I tried clr however I had it dripping brown liquid. Anybody know if that is crud build up or something else?

Ok, that didn't work. Mine was completely clogged. I put CLR in 2 days ago. Ran for about 10 seconds the first evening. Again today. No steam. Now I get drips but that's it. What next?

step 1. use descaler, you don't need to use something as heavy duty as the CLR but you can if you want I guess, if its bad skip water and 100% use descaler only
step 2. never use f king tap water and use de-stilled or demineralised water (rain water might even work)
