You enter the world with nothing, but some are lucky enough to leave with nothing but respect and honour!

"Absolutely, I think definitely a little bit faster. But uh, this is going to be a spectacle. This is a great way to go out" Wow

"This is a great way of going out..." eerie...

Man died doing what he loved. May we all be so lucky.

He spent his last few moments expressing how grateful he was for the people around him and the opportunity he was given to be a race car driver. RIP, Mr Wheldon!

Such sportmanship. Showing confidence in himself while also respecting his fellow drivers. That is a rare trait these days.

"Good luck to you, Dan". There was no reply from the man.

"Honestly, I wouldn't be doing it if I didn't think I was going to win" that's the mindset of a legendary racer.
-RIP Dan Wheldon

I was lucky enough to have a fun chat with Dan and Tony Kanaan while walking the infield at the 2006 US Gran Prix. I came across them by complete luck, said hello, and was treated as an equal. We had a great talk just about life and how their seasons were going, with tons of laughs. I had always been a Kanaan fan, but that gained gained a massive admiration for Dan in those 30 minutes that we talked. He was so kind, so humble, so full of life, hilarious, but also genuine. I was also watching the race during his last day. The crash made me jump up from where I was sitting. For the first time, I had actually spent a small amount of time with the person involved, shared some laughs, etc. It's a moment I still think of regularly, and will always stay with me. I'm sure wherever Dan is now, he's making someone smile.

I followed him on Twitter, his last tweet was: "Lights are green!"

He’s alive and well one second and the next he’s gone. So sad for him and his family. They will meet again. Life isn’t as long as we think. Rest easy Dan.

1:04: "This is going to be a spectacle, it's a great way to go out". I know that's not how he meant it, prophetic words before the green flag falls.

We all know the dangers involved in racing and there is the chance of dieing every time we climb into the drivers seat. We do what we love and there is no better way to go than doing what you love.

I see these comments saying how he knew what was going to happen with the words: "Great way to go out." I'm pretty sure he was talking about winning to end the 2011 season.
