Formula one used to be very dangerous, not only for drivers, but often forgotten is the fact that track officals are in danger. This accident is one of f1's worst. Only one close is that one time a driver was decapitated during an f1 race

Here’s the story if you wanna know: A Race car driver named Renzo pulled over from engine problems and 2 South African Marshall’s, William (25) and Fredrick .J.V. Vurren (19) rushed to put out the engine that was a bit on fire but Tom Pryce wasn’t paying attention and struck Vurren, he lifted 30 feet in the air before plunging down into the ground and was slashed and his pants slid off making it look like if he was torn in half. Pryce hits another car and the driver got out to confront him but Pryce who struck him was in shock but Vurren had a fire extinguisher and it collided with Pryce and nearly Decapitated him. Both man died and it was said to be the worst disaster in Racing history.

for anyone who doesn't know basically, somebody I forget who crashed out and there was a fire. a helper jumped onto the track with a *fire extinguisher*. Then Tom Pryce came speeding past and hit the guy. The dude was torn apart and the fire extinguisher hit tom in the head, killing him.

context: During the practice session for the 1977 South African Grand Prix, run in wet conditions, Pryce was faster than everyone, including world champion drivers Niki Lauda and James Hunt. During the race, he collided at high speed with a safety marshal, Frederik Jansen van Vuuren, Frederik’s body was badly mutilated by Pryce’s car and both men were killed. Frederik was only 19 years old when he died at a tragic event, and Tom Pryce was 27 years old.

what happend: the driver on the side of the track (idk who) was getting help from the pitcrew holding a fire extinguisher, tom pryce hit one of the workers which was completely mangled, the fire extinguisher hit tom pryce right in the head then lost control of the car then crashed more than 100ft from the mangled worker.

For those who don’t know, during the South African GP (I think that’s the race, but I don’t know the year) Tom Pyrce was having a regular race weekend. Sometime through the race, a drivers car has an engine failure and catches fire. That driver was okay. Although, two Marshalls were running across the circuit, both with fire extinguishers. The first Marshall gets past fine. The second Marshall was sadly hit by Tom Pyrce at approximately 140 mph. The Marshall’s body was split in multiple pieces. The extinguisher the Marshall was holding hit Tom Pyrce in the head, killing him instantly. Pyrce’s foot was still on the pedal when he died, so the car kept going until it hit the barrier at the end of the straight.

Contrary to popular belief NO the man holding the fire extinguisher was NOT torn apart, the pieces flying where his cloths that got ripped off
He ended up passing away from horrible scratch marks from the tar an the force of the impact
His older brother(the other guy who got to the car not shown in this video) stated this

It was a formula 1 driving competition in South Africa, a formula 1 driver had to make a stop because his engine was caught or fire or som like that.
2 pairs of marshals came in to help that driver, including Tom Pryce.
Tom Pryce running to the driver got hit by another driver at 170 mph. At the first frame of getting hit, The fire extinguisher Tom was holding bounced off on his head. The second frame, Tom's body got split in half, his torso to his waist, by the crash. example: Gojo's death position. On the third, The driver whom crashed into Pryce drove off screen in 145 mph. On the fourth, Pryce's intestines were exposed from his torso as the official video were seen as a giant red bloody stick. On the fifth, Pryce's body parts falled into the grass along with the formula 1's parts. Pryce and The driver passed.
