This was originally from the “Real Sports w/ Bryant Gumbel” series on HBO. This episode was about Dale Jr’s Concussion Battle and life during his racing career and post-racing career. I uploaded this because the audio after the crash was never seen or heard before until the show brought it up. Also uploaded this on my original IanNation48. I’m now re-uploading it on this channel.

Gosh I can’t even imagine what his crew felt when they heard that come over the radio after they lived through Sr.

That must have been terrifying for him, especially with the trauma of his Dad passing the way he did.

It's almost surreal to see those concrete walls without SAFER 😳😳😳

0:27 Now Add about 25mph to the speed, imagine an open faced helmet, a broken seat belt and a pure head on hit. For those who think Dale Sr's crash "didnt look that bad" that in car camera is like the diet coke version of Sr crash

"Help me help me hurry up" is probably the scariest thing you can hear as a spotter after seeing a crash like that

Read his book. Goes in depth about how he felt, eventually coming to grips with his injuries, and getting treatment. It's amazing.

When people say “help me” it hits me hard it’s so off putting and unnerving

Literally what probably saved Junior in that crash is the fact that his car went slightly side ways instead of directly head-on.

Every time I see this footage and hear Junior’s pleas for Help it breaks my heart and absolutely guts me.

As a race fan, I was crushed when he retired….However, As a Junior fan who cares about his well being I knew it was the right thing for him to do because his health was/is more important than any race, trophy or Championship. That fact is reaffirmed every time I see him smiling with his beautiful wife and precious daughters.

It's crazy that they still allowed people to choose whether or not to get medical attention this late in NASCAR's history

He was saying help me because he was terrified from the way everything felt to have a bad concussion like that and still be conscious is absolutely a horrifying feeling in impossible to put into words

Difference between Earnhardt Sr. and Earnhardt Jr. was the Hans device to restrain head movement. Sr. refused to wear one and it cost him his life and the collapse of the DEI team.

He has such such a soft voice that help me just sounds like a kid saying it and it makes me wanna cry and hug him.
