Side story. Got into DNB in 96’ and I didn’t know a thing about the Amen break. When I started producing I sampled “funky drummer” from James Brown and added flange from a boss pedal and thought I was doing the same thing. Everybody else thought the same and kept saying “cool amen break” to me. I thought it was a dnb term of endearment, lol.
