No hate but the second sounds way worse, all you’re doing is adding nasty resonance in the top end

Bro just boosted every resonant frequency

Never trust ANYONE who says "boost this frequency" or "use this compression setting on your kick"

Use your ears god damn it. If it sounds good it is good.

Proper video title: guy pretends he knows how to EQ

There is no ”best way to EQ x”. It always depends from the context

While this is cool I find that subtractive eq is a better way to isolate. For instance rather than boost frequencies, layer the original with another copy of itself and cut EVERYTHING other than the frequency range you want to boost our of that track. Then mix that in? What do you think?

I was worried that everyone would think the second break sounded better. I'm happy to find out that you guys don't think it sounds better

Okay that does actually sound pretty alright.

Tbf that second one would be good but for a layer over a different drum set

the sample is already processed, the original amen break sample is different + eqing is all based off of context.

I guess if you want it to sound like it’s coming out of a speaker made out of aluminum foil.

Thanks for giving info on which is the best frequency to focus on breaks.

I'm so confused before and now I know which one to make it pop.

How do we stand legally if we release a track with the amen break? Do we need to clear it or? It’s been used so many times, I find it hard to believe every single release out there has had it cleared? Is it something I should declare to the labels I’m sending demo’s to??? I can understand a label would usually be required to clear a sample... but it just seems that’s been ignored with the amen break 😂
