If a tenent does not pay, how long does it take to evict the tenent? It’s not one month.

No more eating out. Home cooked meals are better anyways!

If you have rental properties, don't rent it out.
Don't go to Restaurants, Fast food, Any Services that are not absolutely necessary.
Spend as little as possible to protect your own finances.

Name a new law in California that DOES NOT make it more expensive (unless you're an illegal, of course)

Renters left a home of a former neighbor with > $12K in damages. Two months rent would not cover this.
Now, think they also did not pay the last month rent.
With every stupid law like this which passes, the rental market shrinks a little bit, causing prices to go higher, as people stop renting their property.
The former neighbor, they will now sell their house.

Restaurants with surcharges are dishonest and should go out of business.

What a weird State California has become.

I cut back on eating at restaurants drastically since the past year when the cost of eating out went through the roof. First it felt like I was making a sacrifice by denying myself an opportunity to indulge in gluttony. Now I feel that I am winning because my wallet is happier and my home cooking skills have blossomed to the degree where I am cooking gourmet meals at home using the best ingredients.

Property owners have already begun a lawsuit against the state of California's limiting deposit amount for a rental property. After the Supreme Court decision against the federal and state government, the lawsuit has a chance of winning.

They dropped the ball with the surcharges. It’s supposed to be no surcharges. Just raise your prices and show your face.

I rented 20 plus years ago, the security deposit was one month rent. It’s unreasonable to have 7-8K deposit since the rent up so much already. As for the restaurant, if people don’t like the fee, they won’t go back. Fair deal.

When I see a junk fee at a restaurant under consideration, I let everyone I know to steer clear. I am extra-vigilant in screening for these when shopping-around. Amazing to see how the cost of doing business has closed countless dining establishments...potential restaurateurs should do an honest assessment whether they should enter the business...it's only going to get worse here in California....

No problem with restaurant surcharges just make sure it highly visible before you enter the business. Then additional if it a real fee show where it goes and show accounting that tracks the actual fee

The net effect of the restriction of rental damage deposits will be to RAISE rents and restrict rental housing supply. Once again, our esteemed legislature opts for short-term political popularity without thinking through the long-term unintended consequences.
