How to kill the moss instantly

How to kill the moss in your lawn instantly. It also gives your lawn a nice dark green colour. If you like gardening, you could try this to get rid of the moss in your lawn. It's really easy, and kills it instantly. Only using ferrous sulphate/iron sulphate and water.

Controlling moss on a lawn with iron sulphate is a temporary measure. Iron will burn the moss, but will increase the level of acidity in the soil which in turn will encourage moss growth next season. Applying calcium carbonate, in the form of hydrated lime or ground limestone to the soil is a much more permanent solution. Fine sand, such as rabbit sand or plastering sand is also effective. Avoid cutting the grass too low as moss requires air to survive and of course the blades on your lawnmower should be raised for the first and last cut of grass each year.

FWIW, Scott’s makes a moss killer and fertilizer that works, but it’s damned expensive. You also have to keep putting it on throughout the year. I’ll have to give this a go.

Ferrous sulphate and you don't need a strong solution. If it turns dark brown immediately your solution is stronger than needed. Also, use a sprayer and you'll use less, you don't need much, it's deadly to moss.

Make sure you don't walk on the wet lawn and then indoors, or you'll have stained footprints on the carpet - and the moss won't be all that dies!!

Is iron sulphate poisonous to animals? We have dogs and cats and sometimes the hens escape and root about on the lawn.
