The Pixel C Revisited. Tablet sales have been declining. And Smartphones are quickly taking over replacing Tablets and some PC's in many homes. Despite the numbers, with Plenty of Android tablets on the Market, We take a a 2nd look at Google's most Advanced Android tablet, the Pixel C. It's a USB C Dongle away from achieving near full laptop function. The Pixel C is a beautiful piece of engineering with a sleek futuristic swagger to it and it still has it's place in many homes. The question is, are Tablets still worth it in 2017?

A word from the senior citizen's point of view; tablets are far easier for those of us who prefer a light weight device with a small footprint that generally only the majority of tablets can provide. From a cost standpoint, with some exceptions these days, tablets are also more affordable for those of us on a fixed income. With the advent of the air printers now, it makes it even better for those of us with specific challenges to not have to worry about buying a laptop just to generate an occasional document too. So, from a "Golden Girl's" perspective, keep those tablets comin'!

As long as google keep producing a tablet like the pixel c, i'm all in for tablets. They definitely need to update their tablet line-up, possibly add a stylus/digitiser and bigger screen to compete with apple, but maintain the awesome design of the pixel c. If they did make one that had a digitiser and stylus, the screen would need a matte texture, to make writing on it feel more natural.

A fingerprint reader would be great too!

Once again you are spot on my guy. I use my sTab 10.5 for reading w/Moon+ Reader Pro and Night Watch Clock App for nightstand alarm also for YouTube Karaoke when I have company over. They get pretty impressed to be able to walk around and sing along with the tablet. Tablets have a definite place that will adjust when tablet prices go down and maybe become a standard for home and security automation. Every home should have a home based tablet for general use and for their guest. I prefer to let them use the tablet rather than my laptop or wifi password.

I like mine. Initially, with the shipped version of Android, it would begin to lag terribly after running for a while, but this could always be fixed by a reboot. The problem was remedied entirely by one of the Android updates

I'm running the ReMix OS. This is one of the only devices that will run that Android version. It runs beautifully. This configuration gives me the best battery life I've experienced on any smart device.

My wife is somewhat frustrated with her Pixel C, running the latest stock Android update. She routinely find that the sound stops working, and can only be restored by a reboot. I also experience this occasionally with ReMix, but it's rare (maybe once every couple of months).

All in all, I'm very happy with my Pixel C, especially after the miserable Asus tablet I used to own.

I don't think tablets are anywhere near dead.

Manufacturers want people to buy one each year like the majority do with their phones however this is something that will never happen.

Sales have dropped because everyone has a tablet or several.

When it comes to your question about what we think about the tablet role in 2017, I have to say that I totally support the future of tablets. I wish I had the Pixel C but I'm definitely looking forward to possibly hearing about Samsungs Galaxy Tab S3 very soon. I use my Galaxy Tab S2 more than I do my Surface. I value the portablility, the ease of use, the battery life, gaming, and emulation on tablets, and in 99% of situations, my tablet will take care of any work I really need to do for college. I would like to see the market recognize the productivity capabilities, and all-around versatility of tablets, and keep pushing the technology forward!

I like a good tablet.
I used the Nexus 7 (2nd gen) when it was several years old because I liked it the first time I had it and missed it.
Now all the Android tablets that come out never get updates to the newest OS version.
Even the Pixel C isn't getting new updates soon and Google won't put out a new Android tablet.
Samsung doesn't really update their awesome tablets

How's the volume/sound? I have a nexus 9 and the volume doesn't get quite loud enough despite the two forward facing speakers. Great video by the way.

I do enjoy using my tablet to give my phone a rest when I'm at home and when I need to read articles and do some light study. The Pixel C was my ideal tablet but sadly it's way out of my price range.
