If you put mat in a white room with nothing in it, he would explain the lore of the room in a way that makes the creators of the room question themselves

In the last few years, especially as new updates have come to the game, Matpat's ideas on the lore of the world have been revised a few times. I think it would be really great if we could see a current summary of his ideas about the full story of the Minecraft world

What if instead of using the different portals to try and escape the dangers of the over world, the ancient builders were trying to cling to the final words of the hosts. “There are endless worlds out there.” The ancient builders started to search for them after praying and hoping to them didn’t work. They decided to take things into their own hands

I like the idea of Illagers not actually being evil but just trying to bring back the ancient builders because they miss them

I love Matpat's work finding a story on the most lore-quiet game ever

The theory that lapis contains souls which it uses to enchant is further backed up by the fact that you need experience points (gained by killing mobs) to use the enchantment table ALONG WITH lapis

Another explanation for why hostile mobs turned on the player is because they hate you (as they recognise you as one of the ancient builders) and are angry that you destroyed their world (we know from their willingness to fight the piglins that they are very protective of their world) so want to kill you before you extract too many resources and enable the world to go back to how it was (there's a reason not all mobs attack villagers imo as they have no reason to be angry at them compared to you)

Is it just me or did this really give off like early Game Theory vibes? I love it! Keep up the great work!

I did not expect Mat to midway through the video start bullying Schlatt and I love it.

Hearing that the ancient builders theory has been going on for 4 years was not something I expected to give me an existential moment over. Cheers to everyone who remembers the first one coming out

MATPAT. We need you to go deep into the shorts arg lore with danno draws, royal pear, johnny razor, phaleur, and more

You know, in that first theory, it's also possible that the heroes didnt immediately become uncaring jerks once the story ended. Building on your other theories, instead of hunting whole species to extinction, it seams much more likely they started domesticating and providing a singular home for said animals, near their own homes, which would definitely be within sight of a very angry and powerful wither what's running around exterminating all life on the surface.

i would love to see a full length video bringing all of these minecraft lore theories together into a single piece so badly. i love all the material that this channel has produced around minecraft lore. it truly deserves to be fully updated and presented in its entirety.

12:52 Fun little fact: you can also find prismarine stuff (both in Sea Lanterns as well as standard blocks) in some of the Underwater Ruins, which further connects them to the Monuments. Buried Treasure can also contain Prismarine Crystals, which connects them (and, by proxy, the Underwater Ruins and Shipwrecks, since those are where you find their maps) as well.

The underwater temples being rebuilds of the Well of Fate makes too much sense. It's so cool how similar Minecraft Legends is to the lore you theorized for YEARS!

MatPat is the only person who can take a simple game and complicate it beyond our understanding

Edit: How did this get so many likes. I feel famous now

The lapis theory only gains more credibility once you consider enchanting. To enchant, you have to use two 'seemingly' unrelated things: lapis, which you find underground and in chests, and experience, which you primarily get from killing mobs. When you infuse the lapis with the experience gained from those dead mobs, you are able to invoke some remnant of the power that the ancient builders were given by the Hosts.

Unrelated, but I find it hilarious that the gods are called Hosts, like server hosts. Made me smile :)

Video idea: This idea is about the lore surrounding the connection between Dark Dome games. Some of them are connected and you find it out once you've finished the connected games.

You know, I'm not gonna lie, these 3 "seperate" theories actually go together pretty well. Should've just made one big theory to be honest. It all makes perfect sense to me!
