As a straight white male, even my vast experience isn't getting me interviews. Any place that gets fed funding is incentivized to NOT hire me. It's rough out there

This is not a Gen Z problem. This was a problem for the last 30+ years.

Yeah... no shit every employer wants experience. However, it floors me when I see an entry level position with a 2-5 year experience requirement in my field. Everyone needs to start somewhere...

Why is everyone shitting on her? What did she do wrong? She said she is struggling to find work and is asking for advice, that’s a very normal, adult thing to do.

If anything this is an indictment of the college system.

My shop has 2 gen z employees, 1 works his ass off to no end and is willing to get dirty like hog in mud, the other you have to remind him 15 times in 10 minutes to take out the trash and to get off his phone. The second one is like the other 7 we have had that quit because it's hard the first kid we are offering him a permanent position and his own bay when he graduates trade school in October.

As a high school drop out who has done construction his whole entire life, jobs are nice and easy to come by for me. Quit one today, be working tomorrow. Thank you to all the teachers out there that said I’ll never make anything of my life if I don’t go to college 🙏🏼

I don't see a need to bash this particular girl. She's just asking a question that baffles a LOT of young people.

She doesn't seem so bad. She's cooking. She's genuinely asking what she can do to gain employment. What's the problem?

1st - she's cooking, not eating take out, or Starbucks. 2nd she wants a job and is asking for help. Good attitude.

I'm 60, recently looking for work again.
My take on life is. Unless your degree leads to a license.
Don't bother with college.
And make a resume, with/ without telling your degree.
Over educated get trashed first.

These kids have been lied to their entire lives. It's not surprising that they're confused.

To be fair to her, you have to start somewhere. At some point you will have no experience.

Her degree is not worthless. Her tuition helped her professors build some very large and beautiful homes.

Its really quite simple, employers want to hire a 25 year old with 30 years of experience for the pay rate of a 12 year old babysitter.

Experience beats a resume.
Personality beats a resume.

YOUNG PEOPLE, GET BOTH!!

im right leaning, 50 years old and NORMALLY i agree with picking on gen z but in this case, i cant agree with Benny Johnson. A lot of people like him complain that kids dont want to work. Here's a girl who tried to increase her chances of getting a good by going to college, and she's getting no where. Where does Benny think fresh college graduates are going to get skills and experience? People like him complain that people want to flip burgers for life and expect to raise a family with that job. Well this girl wants a 'real' job, and Benny slams her for no real good reason. Just picking on Gen Z. As other commenters have said, people with skill and experience aren't being hired either. So what exactly do you expect these kids to do?
