I've always liked the support that all competitors give each other on this show. Success is celebrated & failure feels just as bad even for the forgers that pass the tests. You can see & hear the other bladesmiths go "OH!" as the blade snaps.

I saw a guy once use a salt packet to know exactly when to quench, I think because he was color blind. But still, such a simple and effective trick, I wonder why more smiths don't do it
