I live in China and pay attention to BYD's spontaneous combustion accidents. I can seriously tell you that there have been at least more than 200 spontaneous combustion accidents in BYD in the past year.

Technical fact: The BYD Bladebattery is a LFP-Battery. It will reach about 90°C on the surface if a Nail is penetrated trough it. It will smoke, but It´s really hard to get this system on fire.

If I now relate this fact to this video, it all looks like fake news to me.

I'm an electrical engineer, and if you ask any of us you'll get the same response regarding lithium battery cells: *NEVER trust Chinese lithium* - always buy reputable cells made by a company like LG or Samsung.

I heard a firefighter say that he has seen an EV dunked in water for 30 days and it caught fire two more times after it was submerged. Those fires are incredibly dangerous.

I won't lie. I recently purchased a BYD Atto 3. It hasn't burnt down. I charge it outside the house so if it catches fire it's less likely to burn down my house. However, after your last video I did up the agreed value on my insurance policy so I'll make a little money if the thing burns to the ground. So far so good though.
