Gutum Fish:
The fish is fiund in Asian ciuntries like India (Assam, West Bengal), Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Myanmar, Thailand. Scientific name of this fish is Lepidocephalichthys annandalei. It is fiund in mainly flowing streams of India and Bangladesh (Bramhaputra river). It is known by various names like gutum, gutia, gorkun, puiya, poa, guntea, loach, gunte, গুঁতে (বাংলা), annandale loach, poia, pillai loach, tilak loach, etc.

Brief Description:
Body elongated and laterally compressed. Dorsal and ventral profile almost straight and parallel. Barbels 3 pairs including 2 pairs of rostral and a single pair of maxillary barbels. Caudal fin rounded and with no lateral line. Pectoral with an osseous spine in male.

Body colour is usually darkish yellow. A black coloured spot (ocellus) on the upper half of caudal fin base. A light band runs from snout to the base of caudal fin and there are 2 dark blotches below and above this light band.
