Runs similar to 7018, just harder to see slag "drop out" of the puddle for newer welders. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Yep, same as 7018 but without the extra iron powder, so its puddle is a little less fluid. Easier to run in my opinion.

When I did this test it was on 2” I use the back of the rod for the space, and then I used the whip technique, as long as you get to your puddle before it cools, you’re good

We use it for galvanized structural welding

Yes, used it before, there is a 7016 which is similar to 7018 except for iron powder, and there is another type, which has 'twin flux', AKA 16TC, or KOBE LB-52U, and are awesome for open roots ( especially KOBE LB52U ), thin steel, and can be used anywhere 7018 might be otherwise be used. A 3/32 KOBE LB-52U can run at 30 amps 'on the packet' but have run it around 15-20 amps well on thin sheet.

what brand and type you used for?? special root 7016 rod, or just regular 7016??

I use it almost exclusively on pipe. The 5/32 is 18" long. Great for capping roll outs.

I tested with that one in Odessa first time testing with it not too bad. Welding sleeves and jackets.

Used 7016 on my test plates, they looked just like the plates you are using. 10" 0p/0s allowed.

You can tell by the slag when it's super glossy it's a 16

Ive never seen the "16" but plenty years with 6010, 7018. Just curious does the slag roll up off the weld like an 18 does when on plate etc. Just curious
