One of the big things that can really slow down teams or product designers building out design systems in Figma is they're like, "Well, I need to build out this massive UI kit integrated component library, and it's got to have tokens" and all of this stuff in there and they just start with too many things. All of those things are super valuable, but I think starting too big is really problematic.

So trying to start with something smaller, like a little pilot project with maybe just a couple of components to really understand how those different workflows work, because you're going to be learning so much as you deliver sort of these micro design systems. Like all we did is our buttons and all we did is our input fields, right? So we deliver those, see how the team is using those and really understand that process.

I think that's probably the biggest hurdle that the teams have, is just trying to start with too much and not being able to react fast enough to what their team actually needs because they started with with something that was too monolithic.
