Fun fact : AoT was mostly inspired from norse mythology . The founding titan was inspired from the first giant of norse Augelmir, also called ymir, the nine titans represent the nine realms, the pure titans represent the giants, the big tree we saw on AoT is inspired from the world tree/tree of life yggdrasil

In some versions, Ymir wasn't necessarily killed simply due to hatred. In some versions, Odin and his brother recognizes that the situation is too chaotic in Nature for anything to properly prosper, so they killed him to create the earth and to make it sustainable to general life
