My friends method to get monetized was to reach 1k subs, then he made a video of all his videos combined and posted it, and told his audience to just put the video on repeat while they weren’t active and he got 4K hours in 2 days 💀🔥

Interesting because I heard lives don’t count toward the 4K hours.

There’s a bit of confusion here apparently you don’t receive public watch hours while you are live streaming, you only receive public watch hours once your live stream has ended and it is public on your channel. So you only gain hours when people have watched your archived stream.

I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but live streams don't count as actual public watch time. I did a stream that ended with an accumulated watch time of over 20 hours, and waited for it be added. When it didn't... I reached out to YouTube support and after several back and forths with them, they gave me a straight answer. Only VODs count as public watch time. Needless to say it was a huge blow to my enthusiasm, but I've since adjusted my approach to stream games that will ensure high viewer count in VOD form. Older adventure games, games with mod-packs, even working on plugging my long-form content in my shorts comments. I still need about 1100 hours... but it's climbing.

Whoever is reading DONT give up on your channel. Think about all the hard work that you have already put in. Every youtuber was once in your spot they just kept going. Stay consistent and you will reach your goals. consistent uploads and improvement and some determination is all you need! I am going for 550 subs by the end of February!!!

How do you get the hours from live-streaming? After the live is over and it saves to videos it shows the watched time after it’s a video but how do you see the watch time from the actual live? And does this count? Some of my lives were very long but when they saved to a “video” hardly anyone watched them. Did those hours being “live” when people watched and participated count or not?

We just started a one month challenge of posting everyday with no editing. We are just turning the camera on and hitting the streets. Essentially it is the same as a livestream, I just don't have the instant viewer input. I was wondering if I should try to livestream this one day but didn't know if those hours counted or if I needed to download the livestream and post it to the Videos section after the fact.

The hours count as live and also when the video gets archived on the channel ? Or only when people watch the recorded archive video? I don’t know how to see the hours I gained when I was live and the hours I gained when people watched the recorded archived video ….
