Good to see gigabit x6 is turning into x10, hopefully will see those speeds here shortly.

Never i'd see the day when internet speed surpasses the network card speed. Gentlemen, we are here; in the future.

I would argue that your speed increases are not because of competition in the area. I know people love to hate on Comcast but they have always very consistently increased internet speeds for customers free of charge as technology improves. At my parents' house in Florida, they've had Comcast cable internet service since probably 2000 or so. They have never once signed up for faster internet, and yet they have Gigabit speeds now simply because of automatic free upgrades over the years. This is over coax of course, so upload speeds are only ~30, but there is zero competition in the area. No fiber providers. The only other option is AT&T DSL which provides speeds of like 15 megs haha. So it really has been free speed increases, and my parents have appreciated it (as have I, since I manage their network remotely).

Make sure you have enough PCI lanes availble to those NICs you may only be getting x2 instead of x4. It might help to change the slot. EDIT commented before the end of the video. I have ran into that issue before myself I built my home server out of gaming/consumer parts and they tend to be very limited PCI wise.

We have no competition in my area. Our representatives keep signing franchise agreements with Comcast that lock out competitors. I feel so represented and protected.

It’s awesome to know your WAN connection isn’t the bottleneck :)

I heard from a Comcast business technician that they can support 100 gigabits symmetrical over their metro ethernet network currently. He said he worked on one of the actual enterprise class customers near Atlanta that actually has this speed. I about fainted.

Yup, the magical word, "competition." Just magical what happens after you have real competition.

That's some speed. I wished I had one-hundredth of that.

Its problably due to the pci express speed. You should find which pcie version you have.

Lon, would be interested if you see any speed difference if you use the Speedtest CLI on your desktops (and Mac).

That 6.5gb speed limit on those PCs is suspect. Any chance those PCs are running SATA SSDs? Maybe the speedtest app or windows is trying to write the speedtest data onto the SSD and the SATA connection is the bottleneck.

Xfinity around me started getting nice new trucks and I’ve been seeing them upgrade more after another provider came in with fiber, still won’t provide me with their service but no need after trying the new option.

Look, it's the real Xfinity "10G" network!

I only have two real choices for ISPs. Cox cable charges $120/month for 1000/35. I dropped them and went with T-Mobile Home internet for $50/month for around 300/90, which really is good enough for my wife and I.

So when Comcast installs your fiber service, do they just give you the latest XB8 Gateway with the same connections after splicing you to the head end? What if you wanted TV service with them and wanted to keep it could you still keep the TV service with your cable boxes? I think they ran their cable boxes as X one.

I need that speed, because I damn sure would be taking full advantage of it.

And it is still 299.99 a month. 5 gig is 149.99 here with 10 gig coming and will cost less then 300 a month that Comcast charges

It could be a cpu limitation. Check task manager and see if it's pegging the cpu 100%.

Comcast has been doing 10Gbps for 6 month+ Gigabit Pro service.
