I've actually seen the mini Washington Monument. Many years ago on a trip to DC, a tour guide offered to take a small group of us on walk up the stairs on the inside of the monument, which was a rare treat because the stairs are closed to the public due to vandalism. It's a long walk up, but the tour was fascinating as the guide explained to us the history and architecture of the structure, and there are many intricate carvings inside that were donated by numerous states and cities during construction. At the end of the tour, the guide said, "Do you want to see the other Washington Monument?" and walked us over to the manhole cover which wasn't locked at the time and could be easily moved by hand.

The door on the Lincoln Monument that leads down to the basement is not permanently closed. While it’s only generally accessible to maintenance workers, Park Police, and Park Rangers, I’ve had the opportunity to spend a lot of time down there and at the top/roof of the actual building. The stairway to the top is extremely narrow and long. Takes some effort to get up there, especially if you are hauling equipment. The basement is very cool. There is a makeshift workbench/phone switch down there. Workers Have left messages on the walls as far back as the monument has been open. I didn’t see any snakes or animals for that matter down there. I assume that the Park Rangers would trap and/or kill any undesired creatures down there. There is a trail of blood leading from the base of the small staircase leading up to the roof. One of my teammates cut himself and bled all the way to the top. Last time I was there, you can still see the drops of blood. Also, some of the roof tiles are made out of thick, semi transparent marble tiles, which allows for natural light to filter onto the Lincoln monument itself. If you happen to step on one while on the roof, they could crack and you could fall to your death.

I’ve always loved things like secret rooms - the idea of a place that only you and a few builders and architects know about - if I ever was rich and powerful enough to commission a structure, I would definitely include a secret room in it

5:30 in the show “American Dad” there’s a secret organization called the “Illuminuti” and the basement below Lincoln’s statue is their secret headquarters. Extremely surprised to hear that the basement itself is real.

I used to be a relocation specialist, trained to move everything except a billiard tables. Moving a piano is exciting but terrifying, it’s like being a pallbearer

There could be a well-prevailed theory suggesting the possibility of hidden great historical remains in sites like this that are quite worthy in various evaluative aspects.

In The Netherlands the empty spaces between the bascules of the bridges were used for archives. Lots of space.
They stopped when archival conditions were regulated.

I knew about the the secret vault in Mt. Rushmore….

I also know another secret, that the man who created Mt. Rushmore wanted to carve not just the busts of those Presidents but complete figures, from head to toe.

In actual fact the British Police "Phone" boxes were all small Police Stations. The "Phone" was on the outside accessed via a a small door and available to the general public and the police connecting only to the switchboard at the nearest Police station. The box itself was fitted internally with a small standing height deskand writing materials. They also served the purpose of giving respite to the Constable from the vaguearies of the British Climate.

The hall of records was intended as the name implies, to house important documents. Alas funding ran out and it was never finished. The black granite stone in the entrance actually is a capstone and has the documents below it. You can getba very good view of it all on Google Earth.

Access to the torch room is off limits even to Ghost Busters. The cast and crew of X-Men 2 in the other hand, supposedly not. Or they just used a green screen like everyone else.

I’ve actually played basketball in the supreme court basketball court and it was like five years ago, but they needed to update it. The entire floor was creaky and bouncy.
