Modification Of The Topslide To Mount My Quick Change Tool Post

In the last video i finished the bolt of the Quick Change Tool Post. Now it's time to fit everything to the topslide of my lathe. At first it locked like an easy job. Only disassembling and thread cutting. It turned out way more complex than i thought. In the end i'm quiet satisfied with the result. From now on tool changing will be way quicker.

I have a Bernardo Hobby 500 lathe and bought OXA size QCTP. Top slide is exactly like your lathe have. Needs some mods to fit the QCTP for both lathes..

Lots of hate here, but I like the idea of the threaded insert. I need to do this soon on my Sieg SC6, but I think I’ll either machine matching flats into the insert/receiver hole, or I’ll key or pin it.

The alternative to your insert idea is to make a one piece shouldered stud from scratch which I’ve seen done but that is a massive amount of work.

Thanks for posting. Just one question, why did you glue that piece in? Thanks.

What size tap did you use for the AXA top slide factory bolt?

easier to use 5/8" UNC threaded rod on original hole threads instead of making the hole 16mm
