What a poorly run event... organizers should be investigated for negligence.

"If I was Lazar I'd want everyone to continue". But you arent Lazar, youre a friend of Lazar and if I was a friend of someone who died due to the negligence of event planners I would fucking raise hell on the event and its hosts.

feels VERY weird to see athletes saying "time heals"....

James Sprague is someone I hope to never cross paths with in life.

I love the respect you’re showing. Vellner’s dad has it right. Everyone is grieving differently. Let’s give grace to everyone and let them get through this in a way that’s best for them. Thank you guys for showcasing this sport and these athletes the way you have for years! You have given so much to this community, I’m sure you’re all going through so much as well as close as you are to all of this! Sending lots of love!!!!

I respect how any of the athletes choose to deal with this and grieve what is disgusting is when CrossFit HQ are the ones to try to make it a tribute. They’re RESPONSIBLE. if they actually cared about the athletes and not just making money they would have had proper safety protocols in place and Lazar would be out on the competition floor right now.

I really hop you guys are doing something to protect your mental health. Don't put your service to us above your own safety. We need you guys. But your loved ones need you even more! Thank you so much for everything. Nothing but love from over here in Canada!

I think Par Vellner's dad said it perfectly. Everyone grieves differently. It's about processing the emotions and remembering that Lazar had a huge impact on the crossfit community & honoring his memory.

Time is healing, the man died 2 days ago. What time? Never being so disappointed with this sport and atletes. End of the day what matters is themselves. Cheers for Laura Jeff and others withdrawing this circus

I understand the competition continuing but bit grossed out by James Sprague hoping and suggesting that people shouldn’t be sad and wanting more energy tomorrow is so tone deaf

I suggest the Spirit of the Games award be renamed permanently in Lazar’s honor and that he himself be awarded it posthumously this year.

This is crazy, I can't believe the Games continue.

Thank you for showing the athletes through the emotions and circumstances of losing their friend and competitor. Great uncle pat (pats dad) was lovely to hear from!

Thank you for the respectful, professional way you’re creating content during this unbelievably challenging time. You guys are a class act. Thank you for the way you’re helping our community grieve, process, and heal together. 💜

Some athletes want to grieve and continue, some want to withdraw, and grieve. We are here sitting on our phones not competing and not knowing the whole picture. There isn’t a correct side. It’s a tragedy and criticizing either side is not ‘the right take.’

Guys guys guys. Thank you so much!! This is what I have been wanting and think what the community needs to cope. Thursday was a flood of emotions and the negativity and hate was prominent bc everyone there was quiet. Starting to hear from the pillars of the community and spread love and support even through sorrow is what we needed. I am here for the athletes and love and appreciate what you do and what you share. You give them voices and it’s great to hear. I cried to see Tia back and there. We needed her. I was on the fence on Gerard bc of his past but I’m putting that aside bc the man was speedy Gonzales down there. Thank you for the Butter!!!!

I can't quite wrap my head around everyone still trying to gain financially 1-2 days after a competitor died due to the incompetence of the crossfit organization. The games should've been postponed at a minimum. Everyone's favorite phrase is, "I think Lazar would want us to continue. ".... but I think Lazar wanted crossfit to protect all the competitors and provide aid in his ultimate time of need, but in the spirit of "The Games must go On!" The Crossfit organization didn't even try until the event was over!!! Shame on everybody still making money under the banner of "Its for Lazar!"

So much respect for these athletes who are vulnerable enough to show their sadness in public, whether that's in a social media post or on livestream in the middle of the workout.
Zero respect to athletes who are just pretending nothing happened and acting like this is just a regular games season and making tone-deaf speeches or public posts/announcements.

James sprague gives me the worst feeling. He seems so very lacking in real empathy.

What you three are doing is absolutely amazing and a great way to honor Lazar throughout the games and still produce great content. The CrossFit community is all grieving in their own ways, whether we as the public agree or not. It’s not our time to judge, but our time to support and honor Lazar and his family as well. ❤❤❤
